Who does Pruitt play for?

How in the heck has this thread made it to 30+ pages?

Coach is honoring a commitment...plain and simple. He is still working his tail off for this team. RELAX

I hope that the stress of working for two employers causes him to screw up hugely and cost Bama the game. I hope that he then learns from his mistakes and never makes them again as UT's coach.

So let me get this straight...you want our coach to publically screw up on the biggest stage in college football so he looks like a fool in front of recruits and everyone else for that matter?

Awesome plan. Really well thought out post. Solid.

He is only honoring the Alabama part of his commitment. He may be working on the UT problem but it can't be as effective as it would be if he weren't distracted by his old job.

I started this thread knowing there'd be mindless excuses and unthoughtout lame justifications. In my wildest dreams, I didn't imagine the depth of acceptance of being second fiddle.

You have to have been a stepchild to get it, but be assured UT is a stepchild in this matter.

Yeah, he's really *only* honoring the Alabama part of his commitment. He put together an All-Star staff that seems on the verge of signing the #1 WR prospect in Florida because of his already "strong bond" with this kid.

Tennessee wasn't even on the radar with this kid a week ago.

So yeah, keep on blustering your tired, lame, windy, and pointless agenda against our coach.

I guess him hiring an awesome staff already is him just honoring his commitment to Bama? What is the mindless excuse you see in him doing that? And no smart Ass, I am not a stepchild. Raised by two great parents that taught me to honor commitments just as he is doing. I high commend the coach for doing that. Speaks very highly of him not only as a coach but first and foremost as a man. But of course you wouldn’t understand things such as that!!!! Why don’t you sit back and give the guy a chance to prove what he can do first, before trying to ridicule him. Either support the coach or step aside and get out of the way!!!

There are a few idiots in this thread. Tennessee would do well if they weren't fans. They are self centered jerks. They try to bully every one and push their opinion down every ones throat. They must be really miserable people.

It is common for coordinators with teams to remain with them while they play out their championship run. Kiffin is an exception because Saban was done with him. Cutcliffe is the last one I can remember before that. That was the first year of the BCS.

As for recruiting, I think this will be a good sell. CJP is showing that he is committed to the players and doing what he thinks is best for them.

As for serving two masters, what is the big deal. Haven't you worked on multiple projects simultaneously, or had multiple stakeholders with different goals. When CJP is at Knoxville full-time he will still have to spread himself across the team, boosters, alumni and media.

If you just want to whine and complain go ahead. I'm going to be positive like the coach asked. Aight.

No, all you have done is firmly established yourself in the group of trolls pissing as fans headed by D4H. You guys should get a nickname for your little haters club.

Hey Orange Crush, look at the expectations thread. Told you, a running thread of excuses for losing. One thread, they're creaming over Chris Weinke and the rest of the staff, in the next they're saying 6-6 is our ceiling. haha.

With such a dominant staff!?!?!? No waaaay.

You just said that financial gain is your definition of success, so by your own standard Pruitt is much more of a success than you'll probably ever dream of being.

Make up your mind.

I see a gaggle of Bama lovers joined in while I was out this evening. I'll expect you guys to be dressed in crimson watching the NC game so you can fully support that great man Coach Pruitt. The one who doesn't allow his assistants to coach kids they committed to so he can.

I'll never understand the coach worship from this fan base. It's why we end up where we end up the last 10 years. People put the coach on a pedestal and value him above the program regardless of results or anything else.

I have no idea a Tennessee fan can want Bama to prosper. Ever. For any reason. It is no coincidence that our darkest years are happening while they shine the brightest.

It's much easier to get up in public and say stupid stuff than pausing to answer hard questions directed directly to you, eh?

And what if his defense gets lit up? Nothing is impossible in football. In the last two years in the NC game his defense gave up 40 points and 35 points. Kirby wasn't even close to giving up that many points.

They don't have the steal of the draft and top QB in the 17 draft Watson throwing the ball, be a low scoring game, now the Tiger's are the top team this time around and bama will have time to heal should be a heck of a game, i still hate bama but if they win it won't hurt us.GO VOLS BUCK BAMA

I have never heard of a situation where a major football school hired a new coach, but the new coach remained at the original school, an arch rival school, to help them for another 6 weeks.

Why would the new coach want to do that?
Why would the head coach (Saban) allow it?
Why would the new employer (UT) allow it?
Why are we putting up with it?

Don't make excuses or lame justifications. We need all his time and energy here now. We have lost the fan base, recruits, and our reputation.

Today, is our new coach for us or is he for Alabama?

our season is over and his is not!

he still works for the people who have been paying him!

he has responsibilities to those under his watch!

it ain't that complicated OP

you just stirring the pot!

relax:yes:

Facts:

1. CJP is building quite an impressive staff for his commitment to Tennessee

2. CJP and said staff are already working the phones and on visits to salvage the recruiting class

3. CJP himself mentioned he’s only going back to Bama during the dead period where he couldn’t do much here anyway.

4. CJP made a commitment to his current players, coaches and his coach to be Bama’s defensive coordinator this season

Opinion: it shows great integrity and respect from CJP to honor #4, despite being blessed with a head coaching job. I like the fact that TCHFCATUTK has such integrity.

**** Alabama.

He won't have time dude. Do you think it's a 3 hour practice and off the field? No, he'll have to work 14 hour days to get ready for a playoff game. That leaves no time for Tennessee.

You know this? You’ve prepared for a game before? You have copies of his schedule? I’m willing to bet he squeezes a few phone calls in there while he’s taking a dump.

CJP said all the right things in the presser (as did Phil), but while I have softened on my stance on him coaching Bama in the CFP I'm still not a fan.

If Bama goes out and gets 40 points laid on em, its not a good look for us. If they go out and dominate, our head coach just helped Bama win. Just seems like a lose-lose to me. Bad optics all around.

I was referring to myself as a stepchild. Wouldn't wish it on anybody.
