We just played the number one team in the nation that, rightfully, targetted our second and third stringers. What can you expect?

I'm pretty sure we tried alot early in the game to run it around the edges and those plays ended in losses every single time. Mahoney needed to be fired 2 years ago when he got debord and he also needed to bring in a REAL oc then. Instead he kept mahoney and then hired a has been/barely was that hadn't been in the game for a few years.

Jesus Christ?

It is what it is. A poll of who is the greatest all time coach in SEC history will come down to two coaches. Both of them Bama coaches. Beyond these two no other SEC coach is even close. Spurrier should be a solid third. Saban might be a safe #2 behind the Bear, but he is getting old and he might not catch him. If he can coach until he is 70 and continue to perform at this level then Saban goes down as perhaps the greatest college coach of all time, in the country. He is just at another level right now. I believe Urban Meyer is the only other coach right now who could come close to be considered in his league.

Id have Saban #1. He's doing it in an era where they have tried to even the scholarship field across the country.

In todays game I would agree with Meyer being #2.

The better question is who does Tennessee hire to beat Bama?

Find a place for Butch in the program because he has done good for the program. Hes a good guy and I think he honestly loves UT

Hes just not a top tier coach that is going to consistently beat Bama, Florida, and Georgia.

I think the Vols defense was better last year even though we lost 4 games. 17 points was the difference in 4 games. 24-28 points would have made a difference and we could have gone 12-0 going into the SECC.

The Vols owned Bama from 1994-1998. Peyton couldn't beat Florida, but 1998 we won it all!

I still back Butch Jones. The team has progressed each year. It's tough beating the Big 3-UGA, Florida and Bama each year. We won two of them. Is Texas A&M going to be tough? I think so!

Who knows Peyton would be an OC. Most of the time, Hall of Famers are terrible head coaches.

Butch hires DeBord which proves to be his undoing which leads to Butch getting fired which leads to Gruden which leads to Peyton as OC which leads to 20 year streaks against everyone which leads to everyone else giving up

What a lot of people here don't get is that it isn't the loss, it is losing by 39 points at home. Injuries or not, this is not acceptable. A lot of teams a lot worse than we are right now have played Bama a whole lot closer. I can understand Dooley getting beat this badly. I can't believe CBJ would let it happen.

Ok. Whos out there that we can bring in next year and beat bama? Really 6 consecutive #1 recruiting classes. Sabans lost like 4 games in 5 years. Nobodies beating them. Im no Butch apologist. But the GRASS IS NOT ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE.

Look @ Georgia. We fire Jones. Bring in Herman or Patreno they go 6-6 & 7-5... It will be they cant coach in sec... There @ there ceiling...

You don't understand, it doesn't matter who Butch hires because HE is the common denominator. We will never reach our full potential with him at the helm.
