Who do we end up with? Not who you want, but who do we likely get?

Those guys are running backs who are rare athletes. Running baxks that cam throw. Honestly, will we see another Josh Dobbs, ever? Bouncing off people, redirecting at full sprint, running out of a pile is usually not done at 6'3" 220. Only athlete ive ever seen at TN like that was Cordarrelle. Kamara, was much smaller.

The fact that we have not one championship with those guys is criminal.
Tennessee has had better runners than Dobbs. He was good, but he wasn’t Holloway,Robinson or Shuler. Brandon who is coming in 2026 is a more natural runner than Dobbs as well. GBO

All kidding aside, why would Sawyer Robertson rate so low on our list? JMO, but I think he's the most talented QB left in the portal, and he would do really well in our system.

Shuler was an athlete. He was much better thrower, and heisman capable. But there hasnt been a better runner at QB than Dobber, maaaaybe Condredge.

We will take 2 qbs in the portal and one will be Gaston Moore. Perhaps Angelli is the other one. I don't see this Wright guy as doing us any good, he sucked at Vandy.

Do we really need anyone from the portal? We’d probably be better served using that money to keep the highly-touted QBs we already have in the room.

If I was Merk or Gmac I’d be pissed at the lack of confidence our fan base has in me. Guys at this level want the ball in their hands to show what they can do. Heck, Merk has a year under his belt just like Nico did last season. Do we really think he couldn’t do at least as well as Nico did last season? Nico’s +20 yards stats were awful.
I am good with Merk starting, and that is what I expect regardless of who joins the QB room. Mac has skills, but shouldn't he add some strong weight before playing in the SEC? I like Angeli from Notre Dame because I think he is a good fit who could mentor our two and move the chains when his number is called. I do not like the idea of bringing in someone with the expectation of mastering our playbook and starting game one. I doubt that is Coach's plan, and I do not think that will happen. We only have two QBs, so Coach will get somebody.

Staff’s going to be forced out of their comfort level and use Jackson and Smith…with the offense a beneficiary.
Don’t hold your breath on that. I’m sure there’s a walkon they’ll find a reason to play over them

He’s without question the best fit for us

The only thing Nico was missing that made him pedestrian was his inability to make quick decisions. With the skills of the guys we have on campus, If they can make decisions faster, they should outperform Nico. We need a third for depth, but I’m ok with what we have if that’s what it ends up coming down to.

Condredge and Tony Robinson were much better runners. Dobbs was no Holloway or T-Rob running the ball. He was good but he didn’t have Holloway moves or was he as fast as T-Rob. And Shuler was much more a natural runner and more physically equipped to take hits. I doubt Dobbs was as fast or any faster than Heath either. Robinson could absolutely fly and Holloway had a ton more moves. GBO

He ran a 4.5. Not sure how much faster you need to be at 6'3". Like I said, he was best runner ive ever seen at QB. Better than Schaeffer.

This “he needs 20 more lbs” excuse is so played out. These are QBs. Not bodybuilders. The average athlete can safely, healthily put on 6-8 lbs of lean muscle in a year. Cheeseburger weight is another story. Some of these guys have small frames. It is what it is. Is another 8-10 lbs really going to make the difference in getting broken in half by a 400 lb linemen? Absolutely not.
You voided your point with the 400lb lineman

Norville Rogers - Might be one of the fastest human beings on the planet. Very agile and never caught by the competition. Might have to give him a big enough stipend so he can eat enough to satisfy his thirst for pizza.

He ran at 3.45 one evening while eluding Fireball Roberts. That is smoking!

I don't get it. Everyone around the country ***** on ND for being soft and small and not able to win big games. Now the majority of the board wants their QB? Count me out. Let's roll with Merk.

It would be a miracle to have a portal QB starting this season. 5 months from the season and no Spring practice trying to run this system...Don't see it.

I just looked up Mac's stats and recruit info. He was ranked as the number 3 qb in the nation. I don't know about Merk, but I am thinking he was very highly ranked as well.

I say roll with what we have, wrong message will be sent if we try to sign a new #1. Grab one for depth

Yeah you're right. 7-5 might be more realistic.
And how do we know one of our highly sought after qb on the roster now would not do much better than Nico last year. We don't, they could perform much much better, or much worse, we just don't know. I do know Hype slowed the offense down considerably this past year, and I think it was because of Nico not being able to process the plays fast enough.

I think I saw on here where someone said Merk was #11. Both of them know what to do once they set foot on the field.
