We have NO clue if Merk is ready. I hope he is, but not so sure he is. None of us know one way or the other.

Don’t under estimate the return of Moore. The connection between coach Heup and Moore run deep. When the best QB coach in the nation calls you for a 1 year job, your future in college football coaching might just skyrocket!

Reportedly, he was asking $4. Not worth what he has been paid so far. When you pay a kid that kind of money, it should be back-loaded to prevent this type of crap. He was worth $0 in year 1. Probably $1M in year 2, based on performance. So, he got almost $5M already for about $1M in worth. That makes him a total POS. Hope he gets what he deserves!

I think we need another QB for depth if nothing else. Nico severely screwed us over. This is a huge setback imo. Do you wait and see if a binaries starter jumps in the portal and try to go get him? If you do that, what does that do to Merk? Man this is f’d up.

Probably what the staff is debating right now. If Merk is “ready” enough to jump into the SEC and learn as he goes, then we just need Moore back to help.

If Merk is not, then we will need to drop a bag on a pretty good 1 year guy.

There is no guaranteed commitment anymore.

I do think we would have more success with regional guys without meddlesome handlers at least at the most important position.

I think regardless you bring in a portal guy. GMac just isn’t physically ready for SEC football if Merk goes down. Need more depth there especially with breaking in a mostly new Oline.

Transfer portal: Thornton, Moi, Heard, Kitselman, Brazzell, McCoy, Staes, Pendleton, Jefferson, Moe, Norman-Lott, Castles.
Plenty of talent in '24 and '25 high school signees, including Carter, Matthews, Staley, Warren, Lewis, Beasley, Merklinger, Spillman, Sanders, McIntyre, Campbell, Brame

If that's why Nico is frustrated, maybe he should have sacrificed some of his over-paid NIL to provide more money for other players. Maybe Nico is frustrated because he's not the stud everyone thought he was.
