This is the most logical and I hope it happens.

Unlike so many, i think Merk will be fine as a starter. Just need a QB for Depth

Think if you can get a top qb in the portal you go after him but if not then bringing back gaspipe for depth and starting the Merklinger era isn’t terrible. Just hope that this doesn’t cause Matthews to look at the portal.

Agreed! Heupel chooses to hire his buddies on offense instead of assembling a great Coaching and Recruiting staff. Most of our defensive staff is really good, outside of Martinez. But our offensive Coach's are mid majors. I wish Heupel would do what Ryan Day did. Go hire a great OC and let him run the offense.

Day didn’t win a Natty just because he hired an OC that lasted one year and left, he won because they spent 25 million dollars on a roster, more than any other school in college football. So it shows that paying for the RIGHT players will win you a lot of games and very likely a natty!

The QB this fall will be Jake. There is no one they can get from the portal that will satisfy Heupel in executing his offense when they arrive in June and be expected to play in September. Ain't happening. They HAVE to get injury protection but what they get will be someone that can take a snap in case of injuries.

There is also a huge risk on who they bring in. You get a one year solution, Merklinger may leave. You get a multi year solution, Brandon and Merklinger may look for a new school.

The QB room solution must be chosen very carefully for the future not just 2025.

Assuming Saiyin wins the osu job, I could see us making a play for Lincoln Kienholz.
