Who Do We Go After from the portal?

Nobody. We have guys in house to develop.
We still need someone serviceable. No way in hell we can ride with a RS FR and a true FR. We are 1 injury from only having 1 schollly QB. Zero chance they let that happen. Not saying they bring in a high level QB, even if one was available. Bring in a Gaston Moore type for insurance.

Just pay Nico; everyone else is doing the same thing. If he wants more money, so be it—everyone is asking for it. Nico is much better than he gets credit for; it was mostly the wide receivers and offensive line that contributed to the issues. The results from the other QB’s on the roster is a guarantee will not be anywhere near as good. I mean if I could get 4 million instead of 2 I would do the same thing.

On one hand, giving him a “raise” keeps continuity.

On the other hand, there will be ramifications across the sport on this and I would argue that the locker room would be in turmoil as well.

They weren't asking for 4 million. Nico is NOT worth that yet. They also weren't calling numerous HC's fishing for interest.

Nico should be offered this:

$3m, bumping up from $2m

$2m in incentives for going to Atlanta/winning the SEC/Playoff Berth/CFP semi berth/winning natty

At the end of the day, if we were to win a natty, not one person would care how much Nico was paid. However, heavy incentives force him to actually perform. If a school wants to pay more than $3m for his body of work in guarantees, so be it

Wouldn't they have to bump everyone?

Don't pay him another dime! He is overpaid already. Send him back to California

Offer him a plane ticket out of town!

He's making 2.4 right now.

I personally don’t see how other positions can have a legitimate claim to get bumped up for team success outside the quarterback. Especially with an offensive head coach. I personally think some schools will get creative with NIL via incentives as in football, you can’t just buy a starting 22 whereas in basketball Louisville is spending $8-10m to buy a starting 5.

Of course if Huepel had the balls, he’d go to Merk, offer him Nico’s current number for a guaranteed 2 year commitment and roll on
