Who’s cutting the onions?

I didn't think that he was a kid. Didn't the story say that he's been a manager for 25 or 26 years? Still, very cool no matter how old the guy is and it's even better that the players are on board acknowledging his contribution.

Was it a one time thing or will he be a regular?
I guess in my mind I still seen a kid.

If this doesn’t bring a tear to your eye... there’s nobody I’d rather have as our basketball coach than rick Barnes.
UT Coach Rick Barnes surprises Sweetwater H.S. manager in the most special way

It's things like this that make top level sports folks one of the highlights of being an average guy. We average guys sometimes over look the less average. For the most part top level sports people, when confronted with the less fortunate really step up as they think "there except for the grace of god could stand I". Great story. We here in my small town have a similar situation in our high school football program. "Our Man" never sees or excepts that our team is down, they will always overcome and win. He has been this way for many years. He is acknowledged most or every game from the press box. All he ever does is wave and encourage the fans when he is mentioned. We can all learn from these great people who love and enjoy just being part of sports. (I wonder how many of our VN members have similar stories)

My cousin has downs. If she and her other downs friends ruled the world we would be free of wars. Love this story.
Downs are great people with deep compassion and a great example of how we should be at our core...but there will always be certain groups that will take advantage of that perceived "weakness".

I can't imagine a coach who runs a better program than Rick Barnes. He succeeds in all categories--on and off the court. He's instilled a winning tradition here that I hope continues for many years, but just as nice is the attitude he is instilled in his players who are incredible young men that treat people the way they should be treated. It's just too bad Coach Barnes is using Tennessee to coast into retirement, imagine the type of men our program would have if Rick cared!

I’m originally from Sweetwater and played Basketball there a few years back. I’d rather not mention how far back lol, but I can tell you one thing, no one loves Sweetwater more then Jayson. He is such a great guy and if you ever get the chance to meet him he will leave a great impression on you. I’m very thankful to know J-Bird and extremely grateful for whoever organized all of this for him. Well done, UT!

Very nice story and kind thing to do for him. Also very cool that you know him. It would have been cool for the team to ask him for autographs.
