What's up with this 'offensive minded' thing? The top two coaches in the league are defensive minded.

Why is an offensive minded coach a selling point?

Does anyone really believe Swain here? I mean virtually everything we have heard involving potential coaches has been wrong.

Exactly. Swain has not idea. Pretty clear Currie has this on lockdown. Info is not getting out. Just rampant speculation. Regardless, UT fans know how this is going to go. We've got the last three hires to go by. It will be the same this time around as well. At some point, one would think blind luck would visit UT and the guys making the decisions would finally get one right. My confidence is low, however.

We are going after a bigger fish than Mullen. There is one that wants to be considered that many will find surprising. (Don’t ask the source)

Pfffttt....another fisherman tale that will no doubt turn into the "one that got away". That UT fans are still such gullible goobs. Yeah, yeah....it's gonna be different this time....and Charlie Brown is finally gonna get to kick that football Lucy is holding. 75 yards and it splits the uprights...with room to spare! You gotta believe!

Bottom line is, There is Nick Saban and then there is everybody else...Who else in even in his class?...Meyer?...Dabo?..About it..So the coaches we will be going after have a long ways to go to become that level...There just isn't enough TOP coaches available.

Mullen will stay in Starkville. If he averages 8 wins a year, they'll build a statue of him. $4.6 M and low expectations. They'll never fire him and his family probably loves living out there. He's set. Don't think he has aspirations of taking on that next level of expectations.

Fleck would be perceived as a bad hire because he's a big cliche guy, just like Butch. Wouldn't be given a chance.

AD at Florida can't stand Mullen. They say he got a belly full of Mullen when he was at state. Apparently, Mullen has a habit of treating everyone in the athletic department, as if they are his employees.

I think there are several coaches out there that are just as good, if not better at X's and O's. The difference is recruiting and development. Nobody touches Saban in these areas. In most cases, the game is already won before the teams ever step on the field because Alabama has such an enormous advantage in talent and development.

According to Swain two coaches from the power 5 (not on the Vegas odds list) have called about the head coaching job. If we don't land the white whale Gruden, who would you want as the next head coach that's not on the list?
Jon Gruden **+150
Chip Kelly **+450
Jeff Brohm **+600
Bobby Petrino **+600
Mike Norvell **+800
PJ Fleck **+1000
Bob Stoops **+1200
Tee Martin **+1200
Les Miles **+1400
Jim Bob Cooter **+2200
Dan Mullen **+2200
Brian Kelly **+3300
Lane Kiffin **+3300
Peyton Manning **+10000

The two power 5 coaches who called are Mike Riley of Nebraska and Jim Mora of UCLA.....now get back to work!

Justin Fuente and Larry Fedora among names not mentioned from Power 5 conferences.

I don't think Jimbo is very realistic. Seems, at best, like a lateral move for him.

Bobby Petrino - I can tell you all day why he would be a huge winner at TN , l can also tell you all day why Gruden would be a worse mistake than Dooley, why so many people think he is the answer to all the Vols troubles needs to spend some time researching his time spent coaching, especially his college coaching. At least with Petrino you know what you are getting both good and bad.

I think for sure Manning does not belong on any list. Neither does Petrino.

If Gruden has no interest why does he remain silent????? He posturing for ESPN brass or what? If he has any interest in Tennessee, he should let the world know! Butch is gone--Jon owes him nothing!

Kiffin absolutely should be on the short list until the hire is made!

Hopefully Brohm, Fleck and Petrino are not truly being considered.

I get the other two, but Jeff Brohm can coach. Not my top choice but wouldn't be mad with him getting the job. Fleck would make me move far away, it's exhausting listening to him and seems to much like what we have.

Gruden, Manning, Petrino, Stoops, and Kiffin all have zero chance of coaching here.
