Whistles don’t matter!

Likely this DA didn’t even watch the game. How the hell is forward progress stopped when the player is still progressing forward?

I hope they lose tomorrow on a bad officiating call. I’ll be the first one to remind our resident slob dropper “now, now, now…calls go both ways”

I don’t want to hear them try to excuse the horrible horrible decision by the ref. But the crew as a whole were terrible. That was the quickest blow dead or ruled progress stopped in the history of goal line plays. It was a pathetic call, no ref that far away should ever be calling his progress stopped that fast on a goal line play or any play for that matter. Wright scored, they just ruled wrong. To heck with the refs that called the music city bowl. They are a sorry excuse for true officials. GBO!

Play's dead when forward progress stops, not when the whistle blows. Tennessee got away with a hold on the int in the end zone. Calls go both ways for every team, every season.

Lmao and Purdue had mega-holding in the end zone in OT that wasn't called or it would've been goal to go from the 2. Instead, Hooker got sacked because receivers were being brutalized. STFU.

His cleats are digging into the oil slicked turf to propel himself forward. That ref was way too eager to call the play dead. I want to know why.

Watch the replay in slo mo. Runner's left foot was the only one on the ground when the ball was 1 1/2 ft from the goal like, with a UT player pulling him. You can't drive with one foot. His forward progress had stopped with 1 1/2 ft to go. Refs got it right. Should have gone for 3 the series before, but certainly this series. Sends a bad message to your D.

And if the play was considered unreviewable (at least, that's what I've heard from a few people), then the rule is written very poorly. Nothing should be unreviewable when replay clearly shows the call was wrong.

As do I. Refs are coddled entirely too much. Coaches fined for criticizing them. That was the second TD they took from TN. The ball crossed the goal line before the whistle. The announcers, and every person watching, had no doubt this call would be overturned. Until Josh was lip read saying "you've got to be fing kidding me".
Another rule change because of UT getting screwed is in order. Forward progress can't be the opinion of one ref which then can't be overturned. That's absurd. 2 rules actually. Something needs to be done about all the flopping.
But, this call decided the game. Sealed our fate. Couldn't be anymore obvious. The outcry should be massive. This crew should be held to account. They shouldn't ref another game. At the very least the man who crucified UT with his idiocy should be fired immediately. He can go do high school games.

What does the rule say when determining if a player's forward progress is stopped or not?

I heard no neck Kirby was being interviewed by the Falcons at seasons end. Any truth to that ?

LOL, he'd have to take a pay cut if so.

A player's forward progress stops when he stops moving forward. He was getting pulled into the end zone by one of his teammates, but he still got stopped.

Its the 5 pass interference calls as well... 4 of the 5 was not PI at all.... Great defense!

Everybody wins these days, even whistle blowing morons that are too lazy to run two yards up the field to see if the ball crossed the line.
I have been a lifelong fan, and yes, I was disappointed in the outcome, but the officiating was horrible. Not only on our side of the ball. They missed two or three P.I. calls on our guys as well that were never called. This game was just horribly officiated.
Offensively, the play calling wasn’t bad, but not great. We scored 45, so it’s hard to be too critical. The defense was obviously pretty terrible.
I long for the days that I grew up with. Tennessee winning at least 10 games. My 5 year old son will never see that in his youth. He will unfortunately most likely be attracted to another team that can win these games and have more opportunities to win championships. Living in the Extreme nothern part of Georgia, I pray to God that it’s not UGA or Alabama, but I can only do what I can do.
