Which Women's Coaches Would Jump

whatever happened to Louisiana Tech and their great dynasty?

They let the kudzu grow over their program to the point where it choked it out. It starts slow and you don't really notice it at first. And then it gets your attention. Once that happens you have three choices - not give a crap about it, hope that it goes away on its own, or get aggressive and kill it early. I'd like to think that we still care, but I'm afraid we are in the hope it goes away stage, which it never does. And once it takes over, it takes a lot of money and a lot of time to fix the problem.

Holly = kudzo to the historic Lady Vols program.

What happened to Louisiana Tech dynasty is why all the true fans are fighting hard so that lady vols will not die like Tech did. When lady vols use to be ontop I never heard about Oregon & Oregon State, even Mississippi State..

Oregon and Oregon St. had decent, nationally competitive teams in the 80’s. Canadian Bev Smith was a terrific player at Oregon and played on some Olympic teams for Canada. Aki Hill was a highly revered coach for the Beavers. OSU’s 6-5 center Carol Mencken-Schaudt played for Pat on the 1984 Olympic team.
Sharon Fanning developed some competitive teams at Miss. St. in the late 90’s-early 2000’s. Latoya Thomas and Tan White were nightmarish to defend. The Lady Vols survived many close calls against the Bulldogs—at least once for an SEC Championship.

You may be right, but it sure seems like money doesn't talk quite as loudly in women's basketball as it does in men's or football. Relatively parallel jumps are rarer.

Rueck signed a 5 year contract last October. He'll get 4 mil over those 5 years.

I've never heard this name mentioned but I'd say its a near certainty if the job comes open Katie Meier at Miami (unless Duke comes open first) will get an interview.

I wouldn't be mad at that. She always does a lot with a little.

She does and she would check a lot of boxes with all factions at UT. My prediction is she takes over Duke next season though (her Alma Mater).

Better than Geno or Vic or Wes or Kelly?

At this point yes. Considering all the stuff that University has been through and still recruiting at the level they are, plus winning, I would say so. Geno will retire in the near future. Kelly has done nothing. Vic is not leaving and is not the complete Coach Walz is. Wes is a good coach. Nothing bad to say there. Its just Coach Walz is at the right time in his career to take this job. Not too young, not too old and has a desire to win thats needed at this level. He is my pick.

Doesn't matter how many would jump. And it doesn't matter how quickly it would turn around.

They are not going to make that investment. As long as Holly doesn't do something really stupid publicly to embarrass the program (Bobby Petrino level stupid), she ain't being fired. Nice try though.

Maybe someone should look for some dirt on Holly. By her own statements, she is so unplugged, that someone would have to find it painted in a cave somewhere.

Totally different direction but how about Bruce Pearl. He makes 2.5 million at Auburn; pocket change for UT. He loves UT and UT fans love him!

Meier seems like an excellent prospective coach.

Might be a tough sale. Upon signing a contract extension through 2021, she did announce that she had "deep roots" with the Canes before promptly donating $75K to the UM women's athletics programs to jumpstart fundraising.
