apples to oranges:
dooley: 1 bowl win. 1 winning season out of 6 @tenn= 0 winning seasons/0 bowl wins
butch: 5 bowl wins. 8 winning seasons out of 10
@tenn= 3 winning seasons/3 bowl wins
Butch will get at least two more seasons.
Butch is the luckiest man alive being able to follow the worst coach in NCAA history. Being considered (barely) better than Dooley is enough to secure his job for at least 2 more years? Since when is simply having a winning record and going to low level bowl games been the benchmark of success for a traditional top 10 football program?
I don't think he survives what's coming for him next year. Not with a new AD coming in who didn't hire him and certainly would not be faulted by the majority of fans for letting him go if the Vols lose 3 of the first 5 games next year as I suppose will be extremely likely. If he survives the bye week then certainly after the Bama game when UTs record is likely to be 3-4 (and that's making a huge assumption that Butch can beat Muschamp) then the final nail will be driven into the coffin.
