Which players hit the road/Pruitt shows them the door?

Too Early for pope and Antonitti. Give those two more time and see if they get bigger and can make a contribution.

Interesting stat. Of all running backs in Tennessee football history with at least 50 carries, only Charlie Garner and Alvin Kamara have a higher yards per carry average than Carlin Fils-Aime. He looked like he hustled his butt off every play to me and produced positive results.

Which is why I think he could leave. Staff seems pretty settled on Chandler & Jordan, and Fils-Aime is plenty talented to get touches or even be THE GUY at a G5 school.

However, new OC may present new opportunities for him.

Bituli in 2017- 90 tackles
In 2018- 79

Warrior in 2017- 83 tackles
In 2018- 64

They both took steps back. Watching the games saw both look slower and less intense than last year. But whatever.
Hmmm, so were they given the opportunity to make the same or more takcles and just mussed then due to quitting?

Do you view 18 year olds fighting in wars for the US as kids or grown men? Because the military puts them in charge of billion dollar equipment quite often and trust them.

Do you view an 18 year old headed to court as a kid? Cause the legal system tries them as adults.

Do you view a citizen who is 18 as a kid or an adult? Because the state says they can vote.

So why must we pamper 18 to 22 year olds as kids? They are young men. Some are actually older then current nfl and nba players.

Are we not allowed to criticize nfl rookies now too?
There's a big damn difference in playing a GAME vs laying your life on the line for your country. Still a REAL high percentage of players who are on scholarship will not even smell the grass of an NFL practice field, so, in theory, they are students first, athletes second. My wife would tell you I'm as crazy a vol fan as anyone, when watching Vols play on TV...she doesn't understand it. I'm all for hard nosed coaching. It builds men out of boys. But, there's a difference between coaches and keyboard wanna be coaches...

It was a new scheme but maybe you are correct? It wouldn’t be shocking and if that is the case then you would really have to question Pruitt’s ability to inspire players. If we truly have this many quitters he may need to do some self evaluation

I don't know that he is a "cancer" or that he will transfer. I just spitballed 20 possible guys, for a myriad of reasons, that may not be with the program next fall.

I have nothing personal against Antonutti, I just know we are bringing in 5-6 on the O-line next year that are more highly touted and ready to play than Tanner.
I dont think he was ever expected to be an immediate impact guy, I'm pretty sure they knew they would need time for him to physically and technically develop.

Now you've done it...... you've poked the millennial hornets nest

No but I think more or less people are curious who might not be back. Some "cancers" will leave, some will be asked to leave, and some might just decide to leave on their own. Seems like it's going to be a pretty substantial list.
Good then we can recruit more players this year than the normal what 23or24

I think some of the decrease in tackles had to do with that fact that we actually were light years better against the run from last year and guys weren't getting to the 2nd and 3rd level as much. Wouldn't be surprised if our d lineman had more tackles this year.

Also, by lightyears I mean not giving up 350, 400 yards. We had some games we gave up over 200 and a few where we gave up less.
2017- 251 yards per game given up
2018- 157

A lot has been said about the "cancers" on this team and to expect some serious house keeping. Who does everyone expect to bounce this year? I am about positive Richmond and Byrd hit the road, but who else? I would also think there is no way Shamburger survives after dancing on the sideline during a blowout loss.

More physical than mental IMO. Scheme and carrying more weight. A single middle linebacker in a 4-3 vs one of two in a 3-4.

Bituli wants to win. I feel confident of that. We held Vandy to 100 yards rushing.

However, I will admit, outside of the cover guys, the team defense was slow.

As Sal showed us, it takes time to learn the 3-4. We played mostly man-to-man. Couldn't generate much pressure with the front 4. Oftentimes tipped our blitz sources. Many missed tackles. We will improve on that side of the ball.

Living here in Memphis man it's been hard listing to how bad we suck, with that being said I still will not trash the kids in forums. They represent Vol Nation good or bad. The ones that are not cutting it will find their themselves elsewhere. Remember these are someone's children.
