Any opinions on this? The kicking game has been a dumpster fire. Except for Trevor of course that boy can punt.

I don’t know but they need to pick one and stick with it. The pressure of getting benched every time you miss one is an unnecessary obstacle the coaching staff is creating.

i expect every field goal to be missed, just being honest....C-Migs nailed that first one then nada afterwards, and AM, well imma just leave that alone, dunno if its mental or ability but he just aint getting it done

At this point I think you have to stick with Cimaglia. I don't think the 51 yarder against Tech was a fluke; I think the misses are.

The FR has a really strong leg he just needs to work on his accuracy. He's a FR so atleast there's a chance for him. Medley I have given up on. I still think he missed that FG Sat to be honest. All the good FG kickers we have had since the '80's you would think there would be a way for one or several to work with Vol Kickers. It's been a while that I felt confident in one of our kickers when they attempt anything over 30-35 yards.

Cimaglia. We know what Medley is after 3+ years. Put the youngster out there and let him build confidence through experience. With his first career kick from 51 yards in the Swamp, he did something Medley has never been able to do in his career here. Go with Cimaglia and don't look back imo.

Ftr, Fuad Reveiz said Saturday that he hates the rotating kickers thing, it's not good for either guy....pick one and let him be the man until he shows that he's just not the guy.

Is recruiting a damn kicker really that hard? I know bama has had issues in recent years as well.

The one positive thing about Cimaglia is that he is a freshman and his kicks have all had the chance of going in. There's obviously going to be a learning adjustment. Kicking is kicking, but it probably takes getting used to kicking in front of 100,000 people. I think once he gets the nerves out of his system and gets the feel for live games he'll be a solid kicker for us.

The formula has not changed since pre-season:

Medley for kickoffs, PATs, and FGs inside 40-45 yards.

Cimaglia for FGs beyond that.

Don't think anyone's getting benched at all, Chatt-town. Butch announced the formula before the season started, and he's been following it faithfully. Both Medley and Cimaglia know the formula and aren't surprised when it's time for either of them to go in. There's no drama here. Just a plan. [I know, I know, the plan doesn't work worth a hoot when both of them are missing]

It's obvious Medley for accuracy, Cimaglia for distance.

At what distance do you swap over between the two? That one's a bit tougher. Apparently it should be somewhere under 44. I was expecting 40.

Either way, we need to move the chains a bit more and stop *****ing about kickers missing from the extreme end of their ranges. They have to take the chances they are given, but it would be nice if we could set them up for success. Maybe a nice easy 30 yarder next time?

edit: ninja'ed -- what VFL-82-JP said.

Thanks for bringing some levity to this JP. The depth chart for this was set a while ago. Medly gets the KOs and 40-, while BC gets the 40+ stuff. There is no "swapping kickers" based on feeling. Although, Fuad did say he disliked this the other day. That guy knows a little bit about the subject.

Oh, and can we recruit another kicker who can hit an upright? My gosh, the AD is going to have to pony up for some more goal posts soon if these guys don't stop it!

Was sitting in YY9, looking right between goal post. He did make that kick. If a pigeon had farted on it, it would have hit the upright, but he made it.

I just pray the game Saturday does not come down to a 51 yarder with 2 seconds on the clock for a Vols win........:thud:

I think Medley's confidence is like almost half the team, their confidence is shattered
