With all the wide receiver departures, I can't imagine how he comes back next year; it's difficult to defend.

So we should fire our wr coach? Once again, that’s the entire purpose of this thread
Not entirely I think some of their contracts are up. But if your asking me thiers a good chance Pope won't be back.

Elarbee and Pope should be gone, but will likely return. Halzle should be on the chopping block this season if the offense is as bland, but he likely won’t be.

There is way too much emphasis on position coaches on this board and the results from season to season. Martinez is the perfect example. He was the unanimous coach to be let go from 2021-2023, now he is great because our secondary played well, specifically the CB's. What changed.... players. It's the same thing with WR's. The WR position coach has very little effect on the results on a Saturday. It's much more about the player/scheme/QB. J. Smith and R. Williams could have played for UT this year and had dominant seasons. What changed (theoretically)... players.

OL coach has the most impact on their unit. WR/RB coaches have the least impact.

The secondary benefited more from a stout DL than anything. I don't think it had anything to do with coaching.

This is one of those situation where it would be nice if Elarbee retired, Pope got an NFL job, and Martinez got an FCS coordinator position. That way Heup doesn’t have to fire his boys.

OL and WR rooms have failed to develop their recruits and failed in assessing talent. There is room for improvement in these areas.

I would imagine that every assistant is due a raise given that the team made the playoff. If that's the case, no one is getting fired. Maybe one of them finds another job? Otherwise I'd expect all to return.

The DL was just as good, if not better in 2023 while the secondary was substantially worse in 2023. The change in performance was due to the players (specifically Gibson/McCoy).

The point I'm making is there is too much emphasis on position coaches. It's about the players.

So Sims is an amazing position coach because of the emergence of Sampson this year? Or is Sampson simply a great RB with or without Sims?

My entire point is the effect of position coaches on player performance is grossly overvalued.

Assessing talent is a completely different topic. The position coaches aren't making decisions there.... it's a group effort amongst a lot of different people.

It always is..

but sometimes the fringe lunatic group wants to blame coaches and get all mad and fahr them. Somehow pretending it's not about the players gives them a false sense of something or other. Who knows?

I do know that no team has won this league on a fluke. You have to really be that good. And we'll all know when we're that good. Just like we all know that currently, we aren't really that good....
