Where were you when Peyton...

I was 16, sitting in my living room with my dad, he let me stay home to see the announcement.

Saw it on ESPN. It surprised me until I thought about it and realized he didn't need the NFL money. From a football standpoint, I thought he was ready for the NFL after the '95 season.

They mentioned who his backup would be in '97 during the press conference. I remember wondering how good he was.

I was at my office, and did have a tv to watch. I remember thinking when he first started his announcement that it sounded like he was leaving. Always wondered if he did that intentionally.

Sitting in my room at the Pi Kappa Phi house on campus. The people saying elementary school are making me feel really old.

I know how you feel. I was living in TX for the first time working at my first job out of college.

Edit: on second thought, I was still looking for that job and living in Knoxville.

As for the exact moment, I have no freaking idea.

I left work and was sitting in the playroom of my house in Raleigh watching him on TV, tickling my then three year old son, singing "Peyton's gonna stay, Peyton's gonna stay"!

I was talking to friends about the good old days at my school, about players there who never could win a championship but who we felt like reflected well on us because of things they did later in life, and then we were asking ourselves why it was that we felt we had to live in the past like that.

sitting in the frat house living room with about 50 other guys. I still remember hearing the cheers all over campus when it happened.

To me it was more than the football....I have a lot of respect for Peyton and his family and I felt the whole University was validated by his decision to stay. He was certainly not under economic pressure to leave but he could have easily done so. We love Peyton and he loves us....nuff said.

markedly better than yours

Agree to disagree.

The question is being asked (and somberly answered) in such a way as to compare the significance of the event to the assasination of JFK and landing on the moon. What a freakin' joke.

I agree. This is not comparable to 9-11. I guess some folks dont want to talk about current issues, like a top ranked b-ball team perhaps?
