Where were you when Peyton...

I was asleep in my dorm room in Reese Hall, Freshman Courtyard. The noise of the celebration around campus actually woke me up. You should have been there. :)

I didn't see any ref. to these two events, and cannot imagine anyone equating Manning's announcement to them. Hate to date myself, but I saw all three, or in the case of JFK, saw the initial newsreport. I've never seen or felt such a reaction nationally, to include 911. Even people who were ardent JFK haters, and there were many, were shocked beyond their imagination. Perhaps 911 was somehow expected to happen sooner or later, and/or humanity has grown so jaded and callous and accustomed to violence, it takes more to get the same reaction.

I was in Washington DC for 9/11, but I was not alive for the JFK assassination. I wonder if you would feel the same way if 9/11 was your first major national tragedy. I can tell you that lots of people in DC and New York were really affected on a personal level by the events of that day, and the community grieved with them. If the JFK assassination was really worse, I'm glad I missed it.

That's a good point. The Tebow-worship at UF is already worse than the Manning-worship ever got while he was still at UT.

Hmmmm ... Might be because Tebow has won a national championship and a Heisman.

Manning won things ... for the Colts.

You missed my point. I'm not saying anyone actually compared them. But gee whiz a whole thread devoted to the question of where you were when PM announced he would stay? I mean that's just weird.

Yeah...

What did Peyton do while he was at UT again?

Besides winning a SECC by 1 point

I dont understand why we worship him so much - kid could never even beat Florida.

You my friend might be the dumbest person alive. Everyone loves peyton because he won and still is the best recruiter we have ever had up k town. He is a main reason we are still as good as we are today. As far as where I was, I was at school in 2nd, my mom came and picked me up and says we are going to los angeles he is stayin. My dad bet mom if he stayed we would fly out to watch them play at the Rose bowl. Sure enough we did and I was there when we won the game 30-24. As far as when he came in as a fresh I was at a family friends house sitting on the floor and I asked who is number 16 dad?haha:salute:

I was a junior in highschool, that's all I remember. I don't really remember that but I do know that I was a junior in 1997. I wore my share of tie-dye shirts in '97 so I don't remember the finer details. :peace:

Hey law, my buddy sent me an email of Tebow's girlfriend in a bikini at the beach. He sent me the one that used to be your avatar too. Is he still with that chick? Forget the Kenny Chesney jokes, what a lucky man.

Dumbest person alive? Wow, okay.

He is a good QB im not saying he isn't... it's just that he never really accomplished a lot. He won a SECC his senior year and thats the only thing he did for UT his entire stay. I'm not talking about all the records and awards he has won, there is no denying that, but its not like he won us back-to-back NC or something.

I'll say this - if Peyton wasnt where he is today in the NFL, this thread would not be here.

I was in Algebra I class in high school. My teacher was a Florida cheerleader and graduate and we put it on the t.v. in the classroom.

Great day. I still have it on tape. haha

haha smart :shaking2:. Pretty good one though, guess we did win the east our bowl game and finished #12 in the polls. We got better not worse.:good!:

I have already conceded both this fact as cited by you and also that it should give you reason to be optimistic heading into next year against the Gators. I still think we win, but I'm not as confident as I was on about September 16, 2007, also known in some circles simply as "The Day After.".

Neither one is her. Both photos have appeared on radio commentator Dan Silio's website. The girl with him in the one photo has long been denied to be his girlfriend. The story is she was just a fan who ran into him but of course that photo, with her ... attributes, was destined for the internet from the gitgo. The girl at the beach is Lucy Pinder, a model from England. Goggle her. You won't be sorry.

I was sitting in my new house. I remember thinking he's a shoe in for the Heisman now with such a class move, putting the college experience above the quick easy money. What a great example.

But that was when I was naive enough to think the Heisman selection commitee cared about class.

What's Charles Woodson up to these days?

Chris Leak "won" the NC. And the heisman has about as much importance and significance these days as the scripps howard spelling bee champ.

I was driving to a lunch meeting listening to his press conference on the radio. Remember it like yesterday.

I was visiting family and watched it on tv... when he said "I don't intend to ever look back" I thought oh crap. Wish I could have been on campus, I've heard the stories.

A couple of quick points... why does anyone argue with this lawgator? If we are so stupid to sit around and talk about Peyton, doesn't it make him look worse that all he has to do is go to a hated rival's fan site to try to piss people off? He's like a bad itch, ignore it and it will go away.

2nd, as far as the whole thing with Peyton, he was the greatest qb ever to play at UT. His staying was a big deal then, and it's a part of UT history now. If you choose to think it's not a big deal, that's all you... but don't crtitcise the fans who just enjoy talking about where they were during certain events. That is all.
