I love my Vols, Butch Jones, and Joshua Dobbs- However- Dobbs apparently has bouts of good & bad- Dr. Jeckyl/ Mr. Hyde. Our receivers were open most of the night. He was so inaccurate and erratic that they stopped even pretending to have an air attack.
True affection means you are not blind to imperfections. Most spread teams run slants and have the TE chip a rusher and drag. We don't for the most part- why? I would guess that we are afraid to have that option available in the middle of the field especially if the ball sails (which it consistently seems to do recently). Think- if most QB's need confidence, they run some short routes. We only would let him throw to the sideline (in case it sailed it would go into the stands.???)
That game would have been a blowout with Bray or maybe even Worley even with the injuries. It was also proof that our vols have grit to include Dobbs, who acknowledged it and drove on with his mission. I am proud of them. I just don't think it is all the OL and injuries to WR on O. Our defense manned up missing a key component. I love the aggressiveness. I am not blind though. Vandy put 8 in the box consistently and most will if Dr. Jeckyl is in the house.
Go Vols!
