“Where it all went wrong”

Kiffin

They could have hired Patterson
Wonder what he could have done with Tennessee recruiting, and Tennessee talent......and that was way before we became “now” Tennessee.

Don’t get me wrong Kiffin “could” have done something here.....but he left. Patterson has shown he wouldn’t have went anywhere.

LOL... you calling someone else a "dufus" while not knowing that less than speedy guys get behind fast D's all the time. You're just desperately looking to deflect from the obvious.

3 letters where it doesnt happen very often against top teams: SEC

Nope. That's untrue. So are you dumb or lying?

That would be you!

Prove it. I defended Maurer from unfair attacks for a simple reason. He was a true Fr who had no business playing... but had to because JG stank so bad. I would be just as happy if Shrout started and gave UT a threat from the QB position. Or HB though I don't think he's capable as a Fr and especially considering the disadvantages.

Its already been proven over and over.

As far as "sides"... I have ONE side. I am a UT Vols fan. I want the Vols to win. I'm not a fan of any particular player to the point where I want them to play if they hurt the team.... that's you.

"but, but, but....JG is supposed to perform magic in that situation"

Nope he is supposed to act like a competent QB and throw it out of bounds or pull the ball down and try to run or just take the sack. In a three choice option he choose option #4 again and threw an interception off his back foot while falling away. Same crap he continues to do since freshman days

who?

and to the second part, its Kiffin. Kiffin is better than chaney and we all know this. plus kiffin is very familiar with Saban's defense. Ole Miss has also recruited better, especially up front. was ole miss's starting left tackle out on quarantine for weeks? how about uncertainty of its starting left guard due to being a transfer needing clearance?

nah, none of that matters unless its Maurer, right?
V Jones and Hyatt both are supposed to be really fast.

JG has to eat that ball. At the same time the play was doomed from the get go and poorly executed on the Mesh cross. The 2 crosses were very poorly spaced and allowed the linebacker to take away Hyatt because the rub wasn’t able to take place . JG then tried to throw the wheel to Chandler instead of eating the damn ball. And turnover.

There's a reason Ga. is ranked #3. It's not just on JG. We just aren't there yet. We still only have 3 or 4 players that would even be on Ga's two-deep chart.

Lighten up. We'll take a pounding from Ala. also so be prepared. It's not all on JG. We still have slow linebackers, an overrated secondary, and rb's that are weak in pass protect. Just keep recruiting.
Agree 100% We need more Jimmy and Joe's and Pruitt is getting them. Just ain't there quite yet

LOL... predictable from some of you. JG did nothing wrong... it was everyone else's fault that he didn't protect the ball and made a stupid throw.

His turnovers changed the nature of this game. His other fumble gave UGA a shorter field.

But the biggest thing.... is that UGA didn't respect him. Even after he threw a couple of good balls, they didn't believe he could beat them throwing over the top. They kept playing downhill against the run game. They knew he doesn't anticipate well and wouldn't burn them when they blitzed.

Nothing new. His limitations limits the O... and costs UT games.
Peyton used to say he owned every interception he ever threw. I took it kind of like firing a gun. You are respond for the bullet and have to know everything in and around the path.

When we allowed 304 yards and 17 points in ONE half, in a game vs the #1 defense where we needed to allow that for the entire game, yeah that was the point. We gave up too much to begin with. We didn't have the margin to do that.

Even with pressure, you still have to protect the ball. The fumbles in my opinion are inexcusable though. That’s 101 to hold onto the football no matter what.

easy to say until ur back there and 1 sec after u snap the ball a big 275 lb guy is coming to get the crowd live by rockin yo self to sleep. everybody a probowl qb typing. how do u know he wasnt trying to thro it away and the hit affected that?

Because in his FIFTH YEAR, he is still trying to throw off his back foot while falling away. If he can't handle the pressure, which after 5YEARS, he still cannot. then he does not need to be out there.

that's not a JG issue, that's them knowing our wrs dont have that kind of speed.

there's issues he has like he doesnt come off reads as fast meaning he is still not completely familiar with the plays.
You said enough. A 5th yr qb not making reads fast enough or doesn’t know the plays rof

Maybe the OL limited him...maybe the OL limited Grey/Chandler? Ever think of that?

JG’s interception. Okay... some of this has to fall on Chaney and Friend.

At the point when JG is supposed to release the ball we got a TE and a slot receiver running side-by-side 2 yards apart. Wanya Morris on his ass, 2 interior linemen blocking UGA’s NT and 2 untouched defenders in JG’s face.

Awful play.

Yeah, Bailey would have pumped faked, scrambled for 5 yards, and threw a 60 yard TD strike to Palmer.

Just setting the expectations for VN.

Yes. Then I looked at what he's done over the last 3 years to provide context.

I'm not saying they played well. But they don't prevent him from having the timing, accuracy, and quick thinking needed to anticipate throws. They haven't prevented him from throwing hot reads for 3 years. They haven't made him consistently a half count late on deep throws. They didn't make him freeze up rather than instinctively "feeling" pocket movement.

It isn't surprising that some of you try to blame everyone else. Not correct. But not surprising.

can u read when a defender is in ur face? how about 2 or three
The simple answer is yes. You can make a presnap read of alignment to understand where blitzes can come from. You can account for the delayed blitzes UGA had great success with. The best QB's can "Larry Bird" it and know where pressure is coming from by "sensing" that someone is missing from the coverage. This is something a 5th year senior should be a master of.

There were some absolute blown blocks. He has to throw it away or move to avoid those the best he can. Sometimes there's little a QB can do. But that was not the majority of the problems UT had with the blitz last week.
