I have thought for days that UCLA is where he will end up. They have Jack all to surround him though. Gonna be a looooonnnnngggggg season at the Rose Bowl.
UCLA has money. Tons of it. They (and their boosters) just don't spend it on football. I can't really blame them at this point. They keep falling upward just by being in LA. No need to spend big $ to actually be good.
They will end up paying Nico around $1.5 million.
If I was Nico, I would be rather peeved about getting a huge pay cut (plus paying Cali taxes) plus spending 50% of my playing time on my back in the cold? No thanks pops.
Like RDU says, schools are going to low bid, bargain basement offer to start. In addition to the high asking price, I think a lot of schools don’t want to be the team to break ranks and sign him to a large NIL deal. If a school pays him $1 mil then they have not broken ranks since they are paying less than what he was getting at UT
There are four lessons for Nico- 1) the market is determining his value and 2) never quit a job in protest, 3) always jump to something, not from something, and 4) have a back-up plan.I think it is just down to UCLA and since no one else wants him they have no reason to pay a lot of money. Nico is definitely going to get a massive pay cut. Know your worth people.
Those 3 lessons apply to everyone. Most of us however aren't being paid 2+ million dollars a year. There are three lessons for Nico- 1) the market is determining his value and 2) never quit a job in protest, and 3) always jump to something, not from something.
Nico is now tainted goods. He quit a job in protest. Now he is unemployed and, from all reports, he has dropped out of school. He doesn't have a degree and he can't even claim unemployment compensation.
Make no mistake, I believe Nico was told exactly what to do by his dad and he continues to follow some really bad advice. I’d bet my house, wife and 401K Nico is doing exactly what his dad tells him, whether he likes it or not. It’s not that he won’t question it, but it’s that he’s not allowed to. JMO. This doesn’t happen if Papa Nic doesn’t overplay his hand, Nico is still here…and probably perfectly happy with it.There are three lessons for Nico- 1) the market is determining his value and 2) never quit a job in protest, and 3) always jump to something, not from something.

He's just asking for way too much money. You'd have to be perceived as the difference maker in a team becoming a national championship contender to earn that much money as a mercenary. My bet is that he comes back to Heupel and asks for a do-over on this decision. Heupel likely says no, and he ends up making $1.5M at a place like UCLA.You know you’re f**ked when Tulane doesn’t even want anything to do with you.

I wouldn't be surprised if papa hasn't already blown most or all of the money he's made thus far. Didn't ma and pa quit their jobs and they have 8 kids? Couple million is easy to go through now a days. I'd also be willing to bet he didn't factor in taxes and they are in tax trouble. There are four lessons for Nico- 1) the market is determining his value and 2) never quit a job in protest, 3) always jump to something, not from something, and 4) have a back-up plan.
1) market value- Nico is learning his true market value, not a feel good value designed to get him in the door.
2) Nico quit his job in protest. Nico is now tainted goods. No one wants to hire a jerk who places himself first.
3) jump to something... Nico has left himself with no leverage. When looking for a career move, remain employed, while you look. Always strive to take a step up, not a step down.
4) Nico has no back-up plan. No one ever asked the question- what if this doesn't work? Now he is unemployed and, from all reports, he has dropped out of school. He doesn't have a degree to fall back on. He can't even claim unemployment compensation. He could declare for the NFL. He would be like Johnny "Football" Manziel from Texas A&M. The guy left school after his sophomore year and flamed out in the NFL.
I predict within 3 years Nico will have blown through his money. He is more like Johnny Football than Peyton Manning. What an idiot.
Agreed. He may be at a cross-roads in his career where the right decision could eventually earn him tens of millions of dollars in the NFL and the wrong decision could crush his earning potential and crash his NFL draft stock. The best thing he could have done was to accept whatever UNC was offering him, focus on developing as an NFL prospect, and ignore all the NIL hoopla. The ship has sailed on that my friend.
He possibly had a very small window sometime Friday evening or Saturday morning to say whoopsie and that didn't happen.
The fanbase has turned. Not only ours but most of the fans of other big schools are in line with our thoughts on the issue.
Nico will end up at UCLA for about $1.5 million and have another meh season then try his luck at the portal again. Lord knows the NFL is not gonna want him unless he shows marked improvement.
Actually, my hubby says UCLA doesn't have the dough, at least not at Nico's asking price. Course, he went to USC, so his opinion of the Bruins is not high. I suspect no one will take Nico unless it's at a discount.I have thought for days that UCLA is where he will end up. They have Jack all to surround him though. I had a client, who had an employee quit like Nico. The employee changed her mind, asked to be reinstated. My client let her back in the office. She lasted 2 months. She did nothing but disrupt the company. In the end she stole things from my client, before she left a 2nd time. My client's lesson, and my advice to him- never allow a disgruntled employee back. He's just asking for way too much money. Definitely possible that’s part of it. May have blown through the money.I wouldn't be surprised if papa hasn't already blown most or all of the money he's made thus far.
