Born in Memphis, lived in a suburb of Philadelphia and lived in Knoxville for most of my life.

For some reason my wife and I want to move to NY or maybe Boston.

I am obsessed with NY (I've been twice) but not sure if we would like the culture up there to live.

Anyone lived there?

We love the south but I guess it's just to try something different. The main thing is I have a good job where I can make a lot of money. Plus the cost of living is so different from Knoxville to NY.

It's just one of those thing I think that sounds good in your head and is fun to talk about but not very practical.

I grew up in Henderson, TN (a small town near Jackson). I came to Knoxville for college. While in college I did 3 semesters co-op working in Washington, DC, living in Alexandria, VA.

Since college I have lived (in order) in DFW, TX; Nashville; Knoxville; DFW; Knoxville; DFW.

I had a great time in the Washington area and I often lament the fact that I did not pursue a cushy government job at the DOT where I co-oped. They extended an offer, but I had an extra semester of school to take and I foolishly thought that would be too far from "home"

Lived in Memphis for 17 years of my life, Colorado for 1, and Knoxville for 3 (now).

Want to move back to Colorado eventually.

My wife and I are really into history (she will be a history teacher in a year) and we are going to D.C. in December. I'm really excited about it, any advice?

I've been to Utah, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana but never Colorado.

I would love to go. I guess I'm obsessed with seeing other parts of the country.

It is impossible to see as much of the Smithsonian as you would like to. The downtown mall area where it and all the monuments are located is awesome. Take some time just to walk around the area.

I don't know if you have made hotel arrangements, but find the nearest metro station and wear it out. Avoid driving and parking if you can.

How long are you going to be there for? I went there a few years ago for orientation with IBM. I took a night tour, amazing with all the lights. However you will need more than that to cover everything. The Iwa Jima memorial, and the Korean memorial were my fav. 2. My grandpa served in the korean war so that was neat for me.

Born in Cleveland, OH.

lived in: James Island, Folly Beach, Goose Creek and Summerville, SC; Tracy City, TN; Berea, KY; I've lived in Knoxville since 1991.

I've been thinking that once I get my kids off to college and lives of their own, I might move to Green Bay, WI. Winters suck, but if you've ever been up there during the height of Spring and Autumn, you'll understand.

We are staying at the Chester A. Arthur B&B in Logan Circle. My wife is obsessed with presidents so I thought it would be fun to stay in an old house with a president's name.

I figured we wouldn't drive much, I've heard there are a lot of bad areas so I don't want to take a chance of getting lost with her with me.

That sounds like a really neat place to stay.

Definitely be aware of your surroundings, and don't be surprised to see lots of homeless.

Try to stay out of South East DC if you can.

Three nights (Dec 18-20) so we should be able to get in a good amount. Hopefully we can get a tour of the W.H.

I went to DC a few years ago and it took me about a week to see all the history museums and stuff. Only downside was it was always packed with people.

ya just take the metro, try a night tour one nite, and then go back during the day. u just need to see it at night. Bush's helicopter was flying in when we stopped by the white house, so we had to back up, but we got to go back and take pics. FDR's memorial was neat, then of course the lincoln was cool. i've got a lot of pics on my phone. i forgot to take my digital so i bought a few disposables. guess what, they all came out blank. ticked me off

My wife's favorite president is FDR especially since he was the first president on TV back in '29, so we will stop there for sure.

We took a trip to DC a few years ago and really enjoyed it. We were there about 4 days, and still didn't get to see everything. We did get to take a tour of the White House, but they only take you through a few rooms. On days that the President is there I don't think you are allowed to go in. You have to get there early in the morning. We went on a tour bus that left from our hotel, and I think they only let so many go in each day.

I have never been to NY, but one of my daughters has and she loves it, but I don't think I would want to live there myself. It's a nice place to visit I think.
I was born and raised in Knoxville, but moved to Florida in 1990 and lived there for almost 16 years, but back home in Knoxville now. There is no place I would rather live!

I grew up in Coastal Georgia and have been in Lex for a while now. If it were up to me, I'd live in South Lake Tahoe CA or Avon CO. Unfortunately my wife has a say.

I lived in Boston for a while. Great town...as long as you can handle the climate in the winter, it's an awesome place to live.

If God will get me back to NET, I promise to paddle my canoe in a straight line for the duration.
