Hi Nation,

Just interested to see where the fanbase for the Volunteers comes from in the world..

This has probably been done before, but hey, it only takes a second to vote!

I'll start off by introducing myself,

I'm 17 from London England and have supported the Vols since July this year... (I know, but you have to start somewhere). I have however been watching American sports since 2005. So I do sort of know my stuff. I am not an ignorant Brit who thinks Football is Rugby is for wimps or anything. I am a passionate fan who only watches American sports. (And owns truck loads of gear)

I started supporting the Vols after making friends with someone who went to UT at a family wedding in July. I was about to start watching College football anyway so I decided to give the Vols a shot. I never looked back! It's such a great community to be a part of and a great team to cheer on. You guys all rock!

Good choice! Bama and Florida already have plenty of "new" fans.

I am from Kingston/Oak Ridge TN, 30 years in VA suburbs of Washington DC and now in Raleigh NC.

Mom and Dad received degrees from UT, as did I in 95'.

Born and raised in Knoxville. Still live out in the county. I was young enough to root for the vols and not even know it was a college.

You picked a fine time to start loving the Vols!

I was born in Germany, lived all over the US, went to UT Knoxville and have settled in York Pennsylvania after a career in the Army.

I've been a vol fan since the early 80's when they beat #1 Auburn. Being from Miss. I absolutely had no good teams to cheer for in those days accept for U S M. like bama as well but really started having deep feeling for the vols back then. Now I live in Coppell, Tx just north of Dallas still displaying my big orange T flag although it's getting pretty hard to keep out.

East Tennessee is a great place to live. Absolutely beautiful in the fall. You have to make it to a game, it's a must.

I was born and raised in Abingdon, Va, about 5 miles from the Tennessee line. I now attend East Tennessee State University as a Freshman and I plan to attend UT for Grad School. My dad lived in Knoxville for several years while my grandfather was working on his PhD from UT in the late 1970s. They actually lived next to Tim Priest and my dad remembers throwing the Football with Tim, I think my dad would have been about 8 and Tim was already married, with kids, and in grad school. I've been a Tennessee Fan all my life.

Welcome Stephen. Glad to have some Vol support from the motherland. I think it is especially cool that you "chose" to follow the Volunteers. Many of us are just born into our fandom, and brainwashed from birth (this explains the existence of Bama fans). So I think fans that make it a choice are usually more intelligent and informed.

I grew up in Tennessee, and ironically, I wasn't a rabid fan while I lived there. Growing up surrounded by Vol fans, you don't realize how special it is until you move away. When I moved out west for college, the Tennessee orange became a way to identify with my roots, and I became really passionate. I also had high school classmates who played football at UT, so I did everything I could to watch them on TV out west, which was difficult (pre-internet days). I live in Los Angeles now, but Vol football on Saturdays always brings me back "home."

Trust me, the Vols might suck right now, but stick with us . . . you'll be glad you did! And you MUST go to Neyland for a game.

P.S. Which/any Premier League clubs you follow?

Brilliant stuff, now I know I am not the only one from the UK who supports the Vols! Maybe i should start a fan club! :dance2:

You people from Tennessee seem to be very good at persuading people to support the Vols, I am just saying...

For example my friends 10 years old little brother loves Tennessee so much now he religiously watches every game and he was Tyler Bray (Tennessee Jersey with a broken thumb) for Halloween.

I am starting to wonder if I was born a Vol? Maybe I didn't choose?

I can't stand Soccer.... End of, real football is where it's at! Although, I feel like the only one who does living in England.... Everyone over here is "mad for it"... Hate it myself. Everyone is so nasty and territorial about it.. God I wish I could live in the states. Listening to Mike and Mike in the morning in the afternoon while I am at school is hard to handle!!!:banghead2:
