where do we stand at the halfway point?

I think that we most likely finish 9-3 and just outside the playoffs, unfortunately. This defense is probably going to lose a game we shouldn’t. Definitely got my eye on the game in Gainesville. I do think we handle business against UK, OU and Vandy.

I believe most of the arguments that some of you are stating against Tennessee could be used against EVERY team in the SEC and a lot of teams in the other conferences.

You can even argue that Bama has not really beaten a great team and has LOST to a mediocre team. FSU is now 3-3.
So true, everybody dogs out any team that struggles at times but the reality that is nearly every team but Ohio State at this time. And give Ohio State time they will probably have trouble with someone they shouldn’t before it’s over. Folks should never try to compare scores with common opponents or say will they lost to this team or that team. Every game and matchup brings an entirely different set of circumstances but some folks can’t grasp that. Teams get better or worse as the year goes. Nobody stays the same. But folks every year over react after the first few games. I have seen teams that bolt out to 5 or 6-0 and then fall flat. I have seen teams start out slow and finish strong. I have seen teams have great years but have that 1 bad week. Football is tough, it isn’t easy and it isn’t always pretty. The teams that are consistent and find ways to win despite setbacks are the teams that often win championships. Many fans knee jerk and label teams way too early. GBO

I don't know what to think of this team. I do not trust them yet. TSIO will be even bigger than usual imo.

I really hope that Bishop and Hobbs weren't seriously injured today, and that we get Jermod back.

Heupel's continued habit of going conservative with a modest lead is concerning. The defense routinely makes huge plays, but also gives up chunks of yardage like they're samples at Costco.

8-4 seems like a real possibility to me (although Oklahoma looked awful today), but think how differently we'd all feel if Gilbert had just made that kick, or a number of other things. We'll have a chance to finally put the Georgia game behind us next week.

My feeling is if we play the same as the last two weeks we will beat NM State and Kentucky with losses to Bama, OU, Florida and Candy.

Stop it. We may very well lose in Bama and Florida but Oklahoma is a paper tiger who has played no one and got to the top 10 for not losing games they shouldn’t have. Either Texas isn’t as bad as everyone prognosticated about all week or OU is not as good as everyone thought.

Mateer is ass against pressure and oh by the way, he’s playing injured and won’t get better as he continues to play and not rest.

OU is most likely finishing the season 9-3 or 8-4.

May we once and for all stop the Oklahoma glazing.
I would say OU is better than Arkansas and Miss State.

You may be right. Only caveat is Taylen Green is likely as good or a little better than Simpson and better than the other three (assuming Mateet isn't quite 100% right now). I'm more upset with us letting them get back in the game when we were up 17 than our defense giving up yards/points to what has been a very good Arkansas offense.

This program is nowhere near “peaked.” We still have some recruiting limitations lingering from Pruitt for crying out loud.

Also, we have gone from bottom feeders to competitive with every team on our schedule. Clearly moving in the right direction.
Agree, having injury loses on the back end of our D is certainly an issue along with not having an elite RB.

At the risk of losing my “realist” status and becoming a nega, I say we lose two more. Simpson is the best QB in the nation and Bama is rolling. That’s going to be one. The second will be Florida or Oklahoma. Maybe both. We saw tonight Georgia isn’t what we thought they were and that actually hurts us.
no he is not, under pressure he folds.he has 6 games under his belt.if we keep the pressure on him he will make the mistakes that lead us to victory.the key to this game is keep him on the run and make him feel the pain of our pass rushers.

Pi$$ing away that golden opportunity against Georgia removes a lot of the margin for error. Gotta seize the opportunities when they are dangled right in front of us.

Not sure how the rest of the season will go. The Vols can win every game in the schedule, but the game in the Swamp doesn’t bode well historically. Hope we can keep grinding it out - the defense is worrying at times but they do make plays at key times. GO VOLS!
