where do we stand at the halfway point?

Talking heads, fans and others like to circle some SEC games as easy wins--no such thing in the SEC and the season thus far has proven that. We may and I say may soundly beat Kentucky but that's the only game left other than NMST that I see us winning handily.

You just contradicted yourself within the same post.

My opinion is we go 3-3, or best case 4-2 down the stretch.

The defense is just too bad and I'm losing confidence it can be corrected. Without being a pressure defense, I'm not sure there are many options.

Offense is surprisingly stale sometimes to be able to make up for the defense in tough environments against the better teams in the league.

At the risk of losing my “realist” status and becoming a nega, I say we lose two more. Simpson is the best QB in the nation and Bama is rolling. That’s going to be one. The second will be Florida or Oklahoma. Maybe both. We saw tonight Georgia isn’t what we thought they were and that actually hurts us.
Georgia is still a top team. Auburn while having no offense is tough on D and especially tough at home. Ole Miss struggled with Washington St at home, does that make them a bad team? Look around college football and the SEC there are no easy games. Each game brings different sets of problems. Finding a way to win is the biggest key. GBO

We just have to dial up the pressure for most of the game. Nothing bad about how the defense played in the 3rd quarter yesterday. Not sure why we backed off the pressure. Some of the great NFL DCs make a living doing it for an entire season

I think Chavis used that in the 2001 game in Gainesville.

Hard to believe but the season is now half over so we have two close SEC wins over scrub teams and a narrow loss to Georgia. Where do you think we finish? I got us going 9-3 just outside the playoffs we got less margin for error after losing to georgia and we need to win 2/3 out of Florida , Bama and OU. i think we beat OU at home but i don’t see us winning at Tuscaloosa or Gainesville and that will keep us out of the playoff.

An angry 5-1 that should be a content 6-0.

Like even with the issues, if we beat Georgia, we’d all be saying survive and advance / bend but don’t break.

I give us a 25% chance to beat bama next week. I don’t have faith in our defense

Here is where I’m at, i think our offense lagged tonight. Our defense at his base forced 3 turnovers. Like they were lucky turnovers either that fell into our lap.

We are averaging 38 points in every SEC game so far. If you give me our average in Tuscaloosa, I feel very good about our chances. Especially with the Bama injuries that occurred.

We have shown we can score a lot of points against a stout defense. Bama not so much.

So where I stand is our average wins us the game if we hit it.

That's still a realist comment. Beating the Tide in Tusc is going to be a tall order, just a fact. FL much improved and our lack of success in the swamp is well known at least by the realist. OK looks good. Chances of a coupe more losses is a reality. But winning out is a reality to.

Stop it. We may very well lose in Bama and Florida but Oklahoma is a paper tiger who has played no one and got to the top 10 for not losing games they shouldn’t have. Either Texas isn’t as bad as everyone prognosticated about all week or OU is not as good as everyone thought.

Mateer is ass against pressure and oh by the way, he’s playing injured and won’t get better as he continues to play and not rest.

OU is most likely finishing the season 9-3 or 8-4.

May we once and for all stop the Oklahoma glazing.

I don’t even disagree with you, but like….. we just came close to blowing a 17 point lead to Arkansas lol. That alone should prove that a “paper tiger” can certainly beat us. So let’s not act like it’s some impossibility.

I believe most of the arguments that some of you are stating against Tennessee could be used against EVERY team in the SEC and a lot of teams in the other conferences.

You can even argue that Bama has not really beaten a great team and has LOST to a mediocre team. FSU is now 3-3.

Arkansas never had a chance to tie or go ahead in the 4th quarter. We hardly “blew” anything. Those touchdowns by Arky weren’t great but they were never in a position to have 3 offensive drives once we went up 17.

I was surprised they actually did not try an onside kick after the last score. The time before that we maintained the ball for more time than what was left on the clock.

The FSU game is wiped from my mind right now. Only way to explain that one is Bama simply wasn’t ready to start the season.

Bama and Simpson are the best team in the SEC right now in my book. A&M and Ole Miss have cruised with somewhat easy schedule.

The toughest opponent between the two was Notre Dame.

Beating Bama this weekend would be massive for us to shoot up in the standings.

We criticized every pre season poll for their inaccurate, but then as the season wears on we start projecting playoffs.
This may have worked in the old days but parity is here and gaining ground every year.
Changes in staffs mid season
NIL, injuries, depth and Transfer Portal affects on teams. The NCAA sitting on their backside with an occasional shot with a BB gun. They are an administrative agency with no real authority or enough personnel to govern the NCAA as well. No control and really just laughable. I want the NCAA gone and replaced with an organization the administers Rules and Regulation that fit the current system. Fires immediately anyone with any bias or prejudice.
Might as well step it up.
Welcome to the NFL Farm League.
Its one week at a time.
