Doug Dickey retired and was replaced with Mike Hammilton that marks the begining of our torment! Imho.
Does anybody really know where our down fall begin. It's like after the 2007 SEC championship game we literally forgot how to play offense. It's like it just happened in the blink of an eye and really so fast that I don't think anybody really know what went wrong.
Exactly. You don't blame the assembly line workers when a factory goes belly up. The coaches, recruiting and other junk are all symptoms of the disease. The problem was a lack of strong leadership within the AD and a lack of holding the AD accountable for so long. Leadership starts at the top.

When they hired Hamilton. Phil put it on cruise control and was basically untouchable at that point. Getting raises every year for failure didn't help either. This downfall came from within.
When Phil was basically running a hire Mike Hamilton campaign i knew it was bad news. There wasn't anyone to hold Phil to any kind of standard at that point and it all started going downhill from there. I saw it coming very early in the process. It's amazing how many people can't see how important the AD position is. When I read fans on this site stating the issues started by players, coaching decisions or recruits not coming here etc it makes me realize how far from reality many people live their lives.
You are spot on sir.

so you did not support MH's decisions regarding the football program? Describing Fulmer & co as simply "assembly line workers" is dishonest at best
I thought it was time for Fulmer to go.
But MH handled it terribly and then made back to back bad hires. He was viewed weak from within the department and is one of the worst AD I can ever remember watching.
And surely you get my point. The leadership starts at the top and ultimately the blame goes to MH.

and when did you start thinking this?
no, the blame for poor on-the-field football goes to the coach. You can blame the AD for not getting rid of him fast enough but you can't blame him for the piss poor coaching and recruiting. That's on your boy
Who is my boy?
And of course on the field play and recruiting is on the staff. But who is responsible for holding the coach accountable?

how long did you defend Fulmer? You're deflecting criticism of him onto MH. Hamilton deserves some but not all of the blame. The downhill slide started before he was even AD
IMHO, it goes up further. There has been very little leadership and stability with the University President over the same time period. Hopefully we have that taken care of now, but it starts with the "Tone at the top".
2001 SEC Championship, halftime. And not only did the wheels fall off, we can't find the damned things!
