When the fella I saw Jesus in was witnessing to me all he would give me was scripture. When I would bring my sin up to him and try to excuse it he would just say the Bible says so and give me the verse. Drove me absolutely Bonkers but it led to my salvation! ! Exclation points just for Ron!!!

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. ... 23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

Yah. But it's also our job to think deeply on it, how it intersects all aspects of life, and then then be able to speak about it, so (as you well know), we need to be able to have conversations that consist of more than just Bible quotes.

I usually am only tempted to relegate conversations to Bible quotes when those conversations are had with trolls.

GV ain't that. He's good people.

I usually use more tact as well.

You know Crush every situation is different, people respond in different ways. Sometimes you try different things and you don't get the response you hope for.

I'm not Big095, but I've always thought it would be a hoot (and infuriating) to only respond with scriptural references. lol

Would have loved to have seen that topic come up on Whose Line Is It Anyway. (e.g. "You must carry on a conversation by only quoting scripture.") I think they used to do that with song titles iirc.

Ecclesiastes 8:15 So I recommend the enjoyment of life, for there is nothing better on earth for a person to do except to eat, drink, and enjoy life. So joy will accompany him in his toil during the days of his life which God gives him on earth.

And after the party.

“[a]How beautiful you are, my darling,
[c]How beautiful you are!
Your eyes are like doves behind your veil;
Your hair is like a flock of goats
That have descended from Mount Gilead.
2 “Your teeth are like a flock of newly shorn ewes
Which have come up from their washing,
All of which bear twins,
And not one among them has [d]lost her young.
3 “Your lips are like a scarlet thread,
And your mouth is lovely.
Your temples are like a slice of a pomegranate
Behind your veil.
4 “Your neck is like the tower of David,
Built [e]with rows of stones
On which are hung a thousand shields,
All the round shields of the mighty men.
5 “Your two breasts are like two fawns,
Twins of a gazelle
Which feed among the lilies.
6 “Until [f]the cool of the day
When the shadows flee away,
I will go my way to the mountain of myrrh
And to the hill of frankincense.
7 “You are altogether beautiful, my darling,

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 -- 13 The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.

You listen to marcus offline and you realize one thing. He's the real deal. Much love and many prayers, marcus. Call me this afternoon.

Cannot thank you enough for praying with me about my family, brother. I see why God is blessing you with your home. You are sold out for Him, too few people are. Me included. I will keep in touch for sure.

For those who didnt know, and I dont think OC minds me posting this, his ministry and his church is mostly comprised of people society largely shuns...former addicts, prostitutes, pimps, etc. Folks that few other people care about, and I am sure have very little to put in the offering plate to support a ministry, or even a decent building to worship in.(much less a salary for the preacher to survive)This dude loves what many others deem the unlovable, and gives them truth. I greatly respect that. Greatly.

Marcus. I'm very sorry to hear this, but thank you for sharing. I grew up in Seymour and still have family there... though recently lost my Dad just a few weeks ago. I moved away after college many years ago, but still get back to the area fairly often. The odds are you and I may share some friends.

You and your family are in my prayers.

Very cool. Both my parents went to Seymour HS...mom born in 54, dad in 51. I never went there though. Anybody with the last name Thomas from seymour on up chapman hwy towards sevierville is related to me one way or another.

Your parents were a bit older than me, but I did go to school with some boys named Thomas.

My grandparents on moms side live real close to the HS, off old Sevierville hwy...my parents live on panther creek, most of the Thomas family lives on the other side of chapman, couple miles after you turn off at the "y" as my dad calls it. My uncle Tinys property backs up to the HS itself. Hes a big ole boy. Has a beautiful natural spring on his back acres that the water comes up straight out of the rock in a big pool, then forms the big stream that runs behind the HS.

Seymour TN will always be my home, even if i never live there again.

I'm fairly certain my brother and I used to spend a fair amount of time at your Uncle's spring. I grew up just down the street from the school, and have a lot of good friends that live in the "y" area off of Chapman Hwy.

So *you're* the reason his uncle is having E Coli issues with his water supply!

Yes, there absolutely is a God. I am a Christian and not just because I was raised that way either.

Unfortunately for me, I have had diabolical encounters. I have dealt with people with attachments. I have seen and experienced real, spiritual fear and let me tell you what, it is absolutely terrifying. If I have seen this with my own eyes and heard this with my own ears then I know that the bible isn't just some story book.

I see your reasoning, and also know that all sin must be forgiven to go to heaven. Even the smallest if there is such a thing. Dieing without having Jesus Christ payment for your sins means that you have to pay for them yourself.
The wages of sin is death.

Let me say it this way,all sin is bad. But what will be the end of any chance to be forgiven and receive heaven is over once you pass from this life to the next.
To receive God's grace and gift of salvation, that decision must be made in this life. To die without receiving this gift or rejection of this gift will end you up in hell seeing it's the only way to heaven.
I hope that clears it up!

The problem is that all sin is not forgiven. Blasphemy is considered an unforgivable sin.

I am unaware of any Christian theology that posits such a belief. If someone is one of those you mentioned, you are likely going to hell.

I think you are stretching the belief that anyone can be forgiven for past transgressions and holding up that extreme as the norm.

I Cor 6:9-11 should clear it up pretty good.
People actively living those lifestyles are not going to heaven. But past sins can be forgiven, but if they make Jesus their Lord, they will not be continued.
Verse 11 of the above text reads, and such were some of you.
That's past tense!
2 Cor 5:17 would be good reading too!

Distrovol, I am in agreement with you on this.

Really? Sola Fide?
