Where did life begin? (Merged)

Do you believe we have a creator, aka "God"?

Fascinating, do you hear his voice or is more of a feeling? Does he tell you to do things or just generally give advice?

Despite your usual condescending snark, I can testify that God does indeed reply in prayer and if you truly connect to Him in prayer you can feel his presence and guidance. It took me a while to recognize that heart tug, but it is real. One has to open their heart in true surrender for the Holy Spirit to walk in, if you will.

Why would that concern me? I'm completely at peace with knowing this is the only ride I get.
You may enjoy this ride, but when the ride is over, you will stand before this Creator and the only thing that will matter is if you have received Jesus Christ as your payment for sin. God said that the wages of sin is death. So either you pay for your sins in the lake of fire or Jesus pay for your sins on the cross!

Yeah, it's crazy to expect people to have good reasons for their beliefs.

What did I conflate, by the way? I used that example to show that there is nothing that you can't believe based on faith alone. The scientific method works, as has been demonstrated on countless occasions. Praying to the FSM only works at the rate of chance, sort of like praying to any other god.

Again, what is the reasoning behind people who believe in God having to justify said belief? I do not care about the reasoning why you believe the way you do. Thats your choice. I support your choice. You do not need to justify it in any way.

So I am curious, with everything we currently know and understand about Earth, life, the human body and the universe, do you honestly believe all of this came about by random chance?

I have no doubt that you believe what you are feeling is genuine.

Question open to the whole group: When God speaks to people, why doesn't he give them all the same message? Lots of people claim to have received messages from God, but these messages rarely match up with what he told the other guy.

Is God being inconsistent?
Are these people lying? If so, how do I differentiate between the liars and the truth tellers?

Do their experiences line up with the teachings of the bible? that is how you can know who is fake and who is real!

I'll roll the dice. Eternal life doesn't sound that appealing to be frank.

It is and can be to you as well. If Saul can be converted, there is hope for Septic!

Funny thing about things that happen inside you, they are very much real but very difficult to physically prove. Love is real, we would all agree, but can you prove that emotion? Can you dissect it, examine it? No, but it is real. God’s presence can be felt without physical proof and still be real.

Then you should consider laying off, instead of pissing on his beliefs.

Im not pissing on anyone's beliefs snowflake. Frankly this forum is nothing if it's not 100% debate of closely held beliefs.

I fail to see why religion should suddenly be off limits. In fact I think it should be open season on the role of religion as it pertains to this forum.

This guy is clearly unabashed in his spirituality and seems to be handling himself just fine. I doubt he needs a white knight like you to protect him from heathens like me. I'm genuinely fascinated by his worldview.

I don't know, but there seems to be better evidence for "random chance."

Does it make sense that God sent his son, who is also himself, to die as a human being, to somehow atone for the crimes of two people (made from mud and a rib), who were tricked by a talking snake, eating a magic apple?
