I don’t want Iowa... boring. I don’t want Michigan... we could get embarrassed and that could be bad.

I’ll take anyone we can beat, nothing like exposure of a bowl win and building momentum for next year.

Like I said in another thread, You might want to get your T level checked. The better opponent you beat means the greater the positivity in the off season and shot in the arm for recruiting. Losing a bowl game that seemed impossible a month ago against a very good opponent would be a good measuring stick for this team and coaching staff for opportunities for improvement for 2020.

Big XII teams have always been more difficult for us. Big Ten we play tighter or blow out. Only time I can even remember beating a Big XII since 1995 was Texas A&M with Rickey Clausen.

I think that was the 2005 Cotton Bowl where Rick Clausen destroyed aTm.

Last week CBS predicted Tennessee in the Music City Bowl and had Missouri in the Gator Bowl. I think we could have pushed Missouri out of that post Jan 1 bowl slot. I’m hoping Gator Bowl. I’ve already bought tickets!

A name brand, fairly good opponent (I mean it’s not like a 8-4 Southern Utah A&M).......and one that Tennessee could certainly beat.

I don’t think that’s how it works anymore. I agree though, I still think of the liberty bowl as a lower end SEC tiered game. The Liberty might give us a really interesting Big 12 opponent though.

But that’s not what the SEC or UT or the biwls are concerned about. The Florida bowls will beg for UT’s crowd and $ vs Michigan or Penn St or Iowa or Wisconsin

we’ve played Oklahoma 2* since then and got killed once and lost in overtime in the second. We lost to Kansas State in 2000 and Nebraska in 1999 and 1997. We beat A&M with Ricky in 2004-05 bowl.
we haven’t played TCU since 1976. We did beat Texas Tech in 1997. We haven’t played Kansas since 1974. We last faced OK State in 1995. We last faced IA State in 1982, and haven’t beaten Texas since 1951.

Didn’t see the 1995 but I’ve watched several Tennessee big 8/SWC/XII games over the years. Eventually we will get another shot at Texas and KSU again
