Where are we going bowling most likely?

People that I know in Jax are hearing that the Gator really wants FSU and Tennessee, especially since FSU’s game with Boise got moved out of there . Don’t know how much validity it has to it or if it can even happen, but it does make sense .

Both of those teams worry me, especially Penn State.

But man it sure would be fun sitting with my husband's Penn State Alumni friends if we wind up whipping them.

Since we live in FL if the Vols go to the Gator Bowl we will get tickets. We've seen the Vols play at the Outback Bowl a couple times and the Citrus Bowl in Orlando where they beat Michigan bad. Remember sitting close to Michigan fans who said if we hear Rocky Top one more time.

Like I said in another thread, You might want to get your T level checked. The better opponent you beat means the greater the positivity in the off season and shot in the arm for recruiting. Losing a bowl game that seemed impossible a month ago against a very good opponent would be a good measuring stick for this team and coaching staff for opportunities for improvement for 2020.

Your key word is “beat”. We might get smacked by Michigan so I would rather “beat” anyone!! Not get “beat”.

I don't see Penn State as an option.

Not saying it couldn't possibly ever, ever, ever happen, but pairing a 10-2 team with a 7-5 opponent would be extremely weird.

The conference front offices, as well as the programs themselves, are looking for parity in the bowls (honestly, the conference offices would love to give all their teams a competitive advantage...but since both sides want to try that, neither can really get away with it).

After Ohio State beats Michigan this weekend, then pounds Minnesota in the B10 championship game, that will all shake out to leave Penn State, at 10-2, the 2nd-highest ranked B10 team.

Which is to say, Ohio State will make the playoffs, and Penn State will probably get into one of the New Years Six bowls.

So I seriously doubt we're playing them.

Michigan, on the other hand, I could see that happening even with a 2-win disparity, their 9-3 to our 7-5.

Would be a really tough match. But if our lads stay focused and work hard at cleaning up their play through December's practices, we at least have a swinging chance.

First though: let's go stomp a mud hole in Andy.

Go Vols!

Need to know what the consensus is. Wanna get tickets but obviously don’t wanna buy tickets to a bowl the Vols don’t go to.

Music city or Gator bowl?

Then I would recommend wait for the bowl announcements in two weeks, after the conference championship games. The SEC can put UT in one of 6 bowls that they make a “pool” out of at this level: Outback, Music City, Gator, Belk, Liberty, and Texas.

That or buy tickets to all 6 and try to sell the other 5 sets of tickets back.

I'd kind of like the Belk Bowl. I don't think Tennessee has ever been to that one.
UT vs. Va. Tech ? in Charlotte. The Hokies are on the same type of roll UT is on. If they can defeat UVA this Sat. they'll play Clemson for the ACC title which I think is played in the same stadium as the belk bowl.
This game would be a war.

8-4 Texas played 10-2 Penn State in the 1997 Fiesta Bowl. Penn State won 38-15 over Texas in that Fiesta Bowl.

You left out the Taxslayer Bowl. UT would benefit the most in the Belk, Outback, or Taxslayer, imo. That benefit is $$ and quality of opponent.

I'm selfishly hoping the game is prior to the 1st. I had planned on taking the family, hard to take the kids when they are back in school. I also work at a University who is closed for two weeks at Christmas, not sure I have the nerve to ask off a couple of days at the end of Christmas and New Year break....

7-5 Tennessee vs 8-4 Louisville in the Music City Bowl would be an interesting game

I'm with you onevol. Seems to be a lot of people on this board who as 5th graders liked to beat up 1st graders.

It's 100% going to be either Outback or Gator or Music City...

The Florida bowls are begging the SEC and Tennessee to come matchup with Michigan/Penn St/Wisconsin/Iowa...tons of fans and $ and TV ratings

The Music City would be some kind of weird fall back for UT if Auburn beats Bama or A&M beats LSU and they lose to Vandy, which is not happening
