When will you start to freak out?

We're about to start the first full week of Dr. Danny being at the helm.

How long do you think this search will last? What is a reasonable amount of time the search should last? When will it reach the point of unreasonable and ridiculous?

At what point do you start freaking out and thinking here we go again? Nobody wants the job, so a desperation hire is made...?

Is this where this thing is headed?
I think it will be done by mid week at latest. That being said, they've pretty much already signaled that Steele is interim back up plan if we don't get the right guy. But, I think that was more when we thought it would take 2-3 weeks to hire the AD. Things appear to be moving swiftly, but quietly...which I like. I'm sure they have a timeline w/ final signing day coming up, and wanting to persuade as many portal players as possible to stay.

For the first time in a long time; I believe there is reason to trust the leaders at the helm and I hope fans will give them the space they need to navigate the program through these difficult circumstances.

I have a sneaking suspicion that it may end up being someone we haven’t even mentioned, or dismissed as out of reach. I certainly can’t see spending the money and political capital for this AD and then settling for a coordinator or hype-man like PJ Fleck.

I remain cautiously optimistic.

I don't freak out at the age of 64. I would be very happy if all this comes together quickly, we have a really good remnants group of players, a really good QB (significant improvement), an awesome and new/fresh OC, and DC recruiter of big, physical, smart, and speedy/dominating defensive players, and WGWTA big time in the fall. If we are not playing for a SEC and Natty in 3 years, I will be disappointed. Memories of 1998 are great and some fun Sugar Bowls but, time to go bowling again starts this coming December.

Do you really believe that? If so, why?
I don’t believe that, yet. Will be vastly underwhelming and a departure from the stated criteria of someone with HC experience. Could happen...but I am less and less convinced.

It makes me even less convinced since that particular story is leaking at this hour.

Good post. All Vols fans should strive for that.

I can't say that I've always been able to do that. But as you get older and had life kick you around some you learn a few things.

If I can change or fix something I do it. If not then I've learned to let it go. I became much happier after I learned to do that.

I understand how life can kick you around. I’m in year 13 of caring for one or two parents( I’m the only child) with severe dementia and my Dad passed away in 2017 after being bed bound for 9 years. Getting wound up over the state of Volunteer football is insignificant compared to most things. I tell myself every week to back off from the emotional attachment to Volunteer football but as evidenced by my participation in VN I’m not doing a good job of what you suggested in your post.

I won't freak out over anything. I'd be angry if it somehow came out that Fulmer was once again heavily involved in the search. Otherwise we actually went out and hired one of the best guys in the nation at finding a coach that fits the needs of the school he's working for, so I'm fine with White's decision on who that will be.

Not going to freak out, regardless of who they hire or when they hire them. If it isn’t another ridiculous Google McGooglepants hire, then I’ll just check out this fall. If it looks like a decent hire, or a home run type hire, then I’ll dust off my Power T hat and catch a few games.

Getting older, this just isn’t life and death any longer. The calculus shifts as you realized the true value of 4 hours on a fall Saturday. I kinda envy the youngsters in here, but I also appreciate the gift of perspective.
