Folks are going to "worry" about what they want to worry about when then want to, so they should just go for it.
There is not much he can do this late in the game from a roster standpoint. Maybe sign a couple of unexpected good players and maybe keep a couple that are in the portal, but I don't think he can do a lot. Then create a staff that coaches AND recruits players.
What he can do then, and we can watch for it next year, is be competitive in most games, but especially every game against the lower half of the SEC on the schedule and non-conference games. Being competitive with the roster we are likely to have is the best I can hope for next year. That would mean win a few and lose a few as they learn, but be in all of them. This assumes the SEC allows normal spring and summer workouts.
Past that, it is pure speculation until sanction impacts are known. My two cents.
