When to start worrying?

Nothing to worry about. The way JH is talking, we’ll be 12-0. He said by this fall , we’ll have it all figured out. Just like Butch Jones. He’s gonna bring the best coaching staff in the country with him, from UCF. He’s got this.

You’re right, me worrying about coaching hires is akin to why society is falling apart.

Or, it’s hyperbolic and unnecessarily confrontational bs takes like yours that are the problem. I’ll let others decide.

”me worrying about coaching hires”. This explains a lot.

I have never seen a coach promoted like they did with Butch I mean all the commercials and had him up on the jumbo Tron hell it was almost like he was a national championship coach. And other than Dobbs I couldn't stand his offense.

I was a little surprised by the Heupel hire, but am holding out that he may bring a fun style of football to watch and acknowledging he has more actual head coaching success than any coach we’ve hired since Majors.

That said, when should the lack of any announced staff begin to worry us? It’s clear that we were rejected by the top choices for HC. Is something similar at play or is this more of AD White’s tendency towards keeping these types of things close to the vest?

I'll start wondering next fall if he can't get his RPO offense rolling with Hooker at the helm.

I think the hires will be good ones and they will be made after National Signing Day. They will start fresh then and move forward looking at 2022 recruits.

Start to worry when Tennessee fields more women on its football team than any other NCAA college team......... don’t laugh, fast foreword 10 years and re-examine the idea

We think he's bringing some coaches from UCF, and with those relationships he can just say, "hey buddy, will you work for me at UT, they have a bottomless ATM for paying you?" and then he can relax about that position for a few days.

Folks are going to "worry" about what they want to worry about when then want to, so they should just go for it.

There is not much he can do this late in the game from a roster standpoint. Maybe sign a couple of unexpected good players and maybe keep a couple that are in the portal, but I don't think he can do a lot. Then create a staff that coaches AND recruits players.

What he can do then, and we can watch for it next year, is be competitive in most games, but especially every game against the lower half of the SEC on the schedule and non-conference games. Being competitive with the roster we are likely to have is the best I can hope for next year. That would mean win a few and lose a few as they learn, but be in all of them. This assumes the SEC allows normal spring and summer workouts.

Past that, it is pure speculation until sanction impacts are known. My two cents.

Let things play out and try to enjoy it as entertainment. With the looming ncaa sanctions coming and players leaving it is going to be a rough couple of years. The exciting thing is we will be up tempo and throwing it all over the place. I would not put a lot of stock in wins and loses for the next couple of years.Just enjoy the ones we get and look at it as entertainment.
