First and foremost I am seeking to understand, not criticize or infer negative intent. We all have the right to our opinions as well, thank goodness we live in 'Merica!
When are we going to stop looking back and focus forward? All of the Nico threads, and some are quite amusing, feel like we can't get over the situation. Until mid-summer I was in the same boat to be honest. But now that JA is killing it and the other guy....forget his name.... (well, whatever, it will come to me) is on the struggle bus why do we keep going back to that well?
I suppose I just dislike the fact he is still living, rent free, in some of our fellow Vols heads when we CLEARLY have a team that will be exciting to watch and are probably better off the way it went down.
What am I missing?
My great uncle was a tail gunner in ww2 and a vol alum from the early 50s . He did the same for me. I explains most of my hate for ole miss and auburn. He absolutely hated auburn above all but the knuckle-draggers in tuscaloosa. I learned that at like the age of 5 or 6. I hated auburn before I knew how to tie my shoes.heās a 1970 UT graduate oh heās got some stories to tell. He passed his UT football knowledge down to me
Dude. This thread is about the why of those threads, actually curious. I see what you tried to do there little buddy!
I could care less but Nico gave far from 100%, read some of the reports of him missing many voluntary things. Glad to have moved on.It seems like things worked out as well as we could've hoped. Nico probably played better than his backups would have last season and made a couple of really awesome throws to beat Bama, and it's looking like Joey is likely an upgrade. They both left their original teams, but from what I can tell it appears they've given 100% while playing on Rocky Top. I'm grateful to both guys for the TD throws, the TD runs and the good times. Go Nico! Go Joey! And Go Big Orange!![]()
I'm curious if there have been significantly more restraining orders issued on ex-husbands & ex-boyfriends in East Tennessee compared to anywhere else in the USA, considering how Vols fans have acted regarding Lane Kiffin & Nico Iamaleava. It's like there's something in the water, or maybe it's the corn in a jar, that turns us into weird exes who can't handle breakups in an emotionally intelligent manner.
JP I almost always like your takes but, as I have said many times in this thread, it isn't my intent to rally against it, just understand it. We do this as a fan base a lot and I was genuinely curious as to what peoples reasons were. Candidly, a couple of responses have made me think about why I don't care. That was it brother. Go Vols!Dude.
If you want something to stay alive, talk about it. Doesn't matter whether you're talking good of it, or ill. Doesn't matter if you're trying to have a meta-conversation about why we're talking about it, or why we're talking about talking about it.
You keep it in the public consciousness by bringing it up.
So congratulations, you are one of the people you're railing against.
Go Vols!
I donāt think some are looking at this situation for what it truly was. This wasnāt just every other player leaving for a different opportunity. Iāve seen plenty leave here and thus forum not trash them. I would say that is the majority. Most here understand pay, free market, maybe bring closer to family, better opportunity, etc.JP I almost always like your takes but, as I have said many times in this thread, it isn't my intent to rally against it, just understand it. Best take I have read so far, thanks my friend. I believe that the national coverage part of this was something that I underappreciated.I donāt think some are looking at this situation for what it truly was. This was much more. This was a national event covered on sports nationally and even plain old news outlets. This was the first true āhold outā if you will of college football. I talk to many fans from other bases that still keep up with Nico and think the situation is hilarious watching his production at UCLA. Plenty of non Tennessee fans were ecstatic that we didnāt open the door for the last minute ācollege free agency hold outā. This will be covered for years to come. If Nico flops, he looks silly. If he balks out, the university looks silly. Either way there was going to be coverage. Possibly a 30 for 30 one day?
This will happen again of course. But UT was the first to go through it and handle it. This situation wonāt die for a while.
Ah, my apologies, then. I misunderstood your motivation.JP I almost always like your takes but, as I have said many times in this thread, it isn't my intent to rally against it, just understand it.
