Wondered the same. Gives you hope when a true freshman pg almost brings the back to win.

his man hit that one of the square and that's it, so it wasn't his D. He hesitated on a shot and had a bad turnover on the baseline after an earlier turnover. Martin decided to sit him.

Good call by CCM. I thought DT handled the pressure great and stepped up.

It was strange that he hit that early 3 but did not seem to gain any confidence from it (looked reluctant - like the stage was too big for him).

I expected bigger things from Barton this year. Except for a few games, he has been a disappointment.

Idk, I thought darius was a lot more aggressive than he had been, he actually attacked the rim a few times.

He HAS to get shots up this off season, he's reluctant to shoot some open threes. He's a good shooter, he just needs confidence... IMO.

could've played better obviously, but played great D during our run and led his team to the sweet 16. Stokes, jrich and mcrae all got their shots and he ran the team well during the best UT basketball we have seen in a few years.

I think Thompson sees the floor much better than Barton. His defense is not up to par with Barton, but our offense seemed to flow better with him in the game. I think it will going forward. His biggest weakness will be keeping his opponent in front of him.

he does see it much better. He just can't shoot. His intensity on D and offense needs improvement. Had a 10 second call recently and several turnovers from lazy passes near midcourt. He has the length and vision to be a really good pick and roll player to draw the d and kick or finish at the rim.
He was just seldom aggressive on the offensive end, though when he was it looked like he had some good skills in the paint.

The good news is that he can improve all of that. The bad news is that he still won't be quick enough to keep defenders in front of him. That will be his biggest liability when he's on the floor IMO.

I think lack of quickness can be over come with high basketball IQ which I think he has. Anderson at UCLA is a good example of that. he's about as quick as molasses, but every move he makes is deliberate and smart.

From what I remember he was an above average 3 point shooter in high school. Just hasn't gotten his confidence at this level yet IMO. Hopefully it all clicks next year.

I think he shot well his sr yr and not his jr year, or vice versa. Either way, shooting in HS isn't the same of course. More talent, length and you can't take all day to pull the trigger.
I still think he needs an overhaul on his footwork and release on his 3. Even his ft's scare me. He, like Maymon, keeps his knees straight.

Think Lofton. He was by no means quick laterally but made it a point to give himself enough room off the ball so as to not get beat and anticipated moves in order to beat an ball handler to a spot.

I hate Maymon's FTs. He just flicks his wrist.
