I expected bigger things from Barton this year. Except for a few games, he has been a disappointment.
I think Thompson sees the floor much better than Barton. His defense is not up to par with Barton, but our offense seemed to flow better with him in the game. I think it will going forward. His biggest weakness will be keeping his opponent in front of him.
he does see it much better. He just can't shoot. His intensity on D and offense needs improvement. Had a 10 second call recently and several turnovers from lazy passes near midcourt. He has the length and vision to be a really good pick and roll player to draw the d and kick or finish at the rim.
He was just seldom aggressive on the offensive end, though when he was it looked like he had some good skills in the paint.

From what I remember he was an above average 3 point shooter in high school. Just hasn't gotten his confidence at this level yet IMO. Hopefully it all clicks next year.
I think lack of quickness can be over come with high basketball IQ which I think he has. Anderson at UCLA is a good example of that. he's about as quick as molasses, but every move he makes is deliberate and smart.
I think he shot well his sr yr and not his jr year, or vice versa. Either way, shooting in HS isn't the same of course. More talent, length and you can't take all day to pull the trigger.
I still think he needs an overhaul on his footwork and release on his 3. Even his ft's scare me. He, like Maymon, keeps his knees straight.
