What was learned yesterday?

My kids learned to love UT football. They sang rocky top all afternoon today and I couldn’t be prouder.

I learned we have a way to go before we will be where we want to be. I sat amidst a sea of WVU fans and they are good folk. We had a good time. We aren’t going to be this year’s Cinderella story and that’s ok. I do feel we are on the right track.

From watching the game? Not too much, pretty much went as you would expect from an 4-8, team. Only idiots would be upset , and expect to see a championship caliber team in game 1 of a new era.

From reading vol nation post game reactions,
UT may still be #1 in the nation in Idiot fans.
Not meant to offend , But if the shoe fits.......

I learned we have a garbage football team...AGAIN... and that this is gonna be a loooong season. I learned that the Vols still have a tremendous fanbase that deserves a hell of a lot better than the crap we saw Saturday...and have been seeing for waaaay too long. I learned that we better prepare for another year of horrific, embarrassing beatdowns by Alabama and Georgia.

Still a question but I believe Pruitt knows how to win but presently does not have the players to make it happen.
I learned that the linebackers on this team have a long way to go as none played well other than Kirkland. Kongbo was terrible, Sapp, Bituli, Taylor average or below. DL probably did as well as they could with the personnel we have.
We can get a lot better quickly Pruitt will keep searching until he finds the right players to start even if the best still means not great.

I learned we need pass rushers in the worst way. We need somebody or somebodies to push the pocket, shoot the gaps, spin off blocks, and harass the opponent's qb. Even as little as 2 yrs ago, we had Barnett, Vereen, and Vickers who could attack the pocket protection, get arms up and bat down passes, and sack qbs, and create pressure in their backfield. We have several needs, but this one seems pretty critical at this point if we want to win some games.

I learned it is going to take at least 3-4 years for our defense to become a top-tier SEC-caliber defense, and that is only if CJP can recruit and sign the players he really wants.
