I haven't seen a recent pic of Creer, but if this statement is accurate about lower body strength you're probably correct. Especially if he has good vision and low center of gravity...perfect back for pro style offense.I think it will be a wide open postion, someone will have to step up and earn the postion. Me, I like Creer just because he has the lower body strength and speed. Kind of reminds me of a young Jamal Lewis.
The other running backs have proven nothing. In Arian's absence, the running game got even worse. I believe our rushing attack will be better next year, but it will be primarily because of the improved OL play.
Creer will be the Reggie Bush and Hardesty the LenDale White. These are loose comparisons, of course. But it'll be a split-carry situation.
I find it interesting that many guys that were hard on Foster for fumbling want Creer to the be the starter. Creer has far more fumbles per carry than Foster and has shown this is a real issue for him. He may be faster and more exciting -- but he won't see the field if he keeps fumbling.
Foster will be missed. He was hugely underrated by the fans -- much like Ainge.
The only way our offense improves at all will be through better OL play. Our running attack will be better without Foster. Foster was the best blocker but that can be taught. Foster also had the best vision but lacked the speed or decisiveness to do anything with that vision. I can't count how many times I saw Foster get tackled after 1 yard when Hardesty or Creer could have gotten 4 or 5 yards. He was a liability more than an asset this year.
I agree about him dancing, and not hitting the hole. I've always thought Hardesty hit the hole so much faster and harder than Arian. It seemed as if he could hit it faster, he would break a few.I always liked Ainge. I don't think Foster was a liability due to fumbles. He did have some unfortunate turnovers in key situations but he is not as fumble-prone as people make out.
Foster disappointed me with his running. In the open field, he would always be too worried about somebody tackling him from behind. There have been so many plays where he could have scored a TD or gotten extra yards if he would just put his head down and run. I also don't like the way he danced through the hole. He has great vision but he thinks too much and doesn't rely on instinct and explosiveness. Foster will never be a NFL starter because by the time he makes his decision on which way to cut, defenders will have wrapped him up in the backfield. He is the classic example of being good at everything and great at nothing.
There were plenty of 7 yard gains Foster had that would have been no-gainers with Hardesty.
