This is why Dodd refused to continue playing Bama:Since before our beloved Bobby Dodd moved them to the ACC because the Bear wouldn’t stop cheating.
If we avoid more than a turnover or two, we win. If we get 3 or more turnovers, we win big. Run the ball a lot early. Avoid bubble screens early, they'll be looking for them.-Tennessee fans feel entitled to excellence and think it's obscene if they're not perennially top 10. They melt down when they're mediocre (oh boo hoo us) or try to hire a meathead a former Rutgers coach (well they did get that one right).
-Just another SEC school w/big ambitions, an oversized stadium and idolatrous zealots all over that burnt Orange Rocky Top.
-Tennessee as a team does not scare me the same as Clemson or Notre Dame. I think we play them close. Likely get down early but claw back.
-The problem I see is getting a fair shake down in Atlanta. We've already seen the disrespect that can happen when ACC teams (especially ones from NY) travel down to SEC country.
-I'm hoping that Fran Brown has already changed that dynamic. He's made it clear we are not some punching bag and is very smart with his words when it comes to officiating. Personally I can't stomach any ghost flags on critical plays in the 4th quarter which tends to happen.
-We have two quarterbacks and at least one highly-rated receiver with something to prove. If we can burn someone on a fly pattern in the first series, I can see us winning this game.
-Tennessee is deep on DL but with Pearce Jr moving on their pass rush takes a hit. Their WR room was leaned out a bit with Squirrel White transferring, Bru McCoy retiring as well as Thornton leaving. Nico leaving in exchange for Aguilar is a downgrade IMHO as Aguilar is turnover prone and has struggled in camp throwing INTs.
-Avoid mistakes, and Cuse will have it a 4Q game. The thing is, very very hard to do that with first start QB and game number 1 on the road.
-I don't have that much faith in our defense, to be honest. I think we are going to have to score in the 30s to win, and maybe to even cover.
-Buncha hicks in Knoxville. I took an official visit there as they were recruiting me hard to play golf there. I’ve never heard the word “Yankee” so many times in my life. Cool school and campus sure, but they are kinda like WV people. Very very very strange.
-I'll sign up for 5 TOs! The deranged Vols fan might think those are 5 mistakes. But I'll feel pretty good about our defense if they force UT into 5 killer mistakes.
-If it's treated as a normal cross conference game, the visiting team's conference would supply the refs. See the screwjob in '98.
So, cheating-a$$ Bama. This is why Dodd refused to continue playing Bama:

I’m surprised Syracuse even has a message board. They can’t have that big of a fanbase right?
I got to play for Chick in the late seventies. He was our offensive coordinator in Oak Ridge. Great dude. So, cheating-a$$ Bama.
This is GOLD from Furman Bisher:
“What the remedy is, how a return to sane behavior is to be brought about, I can’t say. Football must be played hard, and players must be trained into good condition. But the players who have achieved this superior condition must acquit themselves on the field as sportsmen rather than bully boys. Otherwise football will surely be called to face a general public indictment. Reformation should originate with the coaches themselves. If it does not, and soon, it must surely come from the offices of the college presidents who recognize the true value of collegiate athletics and their proper place in campus life. In the revolution that developed after the season of 1905, Dr. Charles W. Eliot, president of Harvard, made this observation: “Death and injuries are not the strongest argument against football. That cheating and brutality are profitable is the main evil.” That statement is still applicable fifty-seven years later.” - Furman Bisher, 1962
That should sound familiar to UT fans. There is one thing that scares me about Syracuse, they are loaded at almost every position with Seniors and experience still matters.
albeit some of their seniors are 1st year transfers and that will help. I think I read somewhere that their offensive line is one man returning and 4 first year transfers.
Ooof. Bad game to have when chemistry isnt built yet. Our defensive line will be licking their chops against this O-Line. Might look like OU vs TN in 2024.There is one thing that scares me about Syracuse, they are loaded at almost every position with Seniors and experience still matters.

I’m calling BS on this as there’s no way a person in that job at West Point has the time in the middle of the day to post on another school’s sports forum. And if you are who you say you are, then get the hell off this forum and do your job - those young soldiers deserve better! No, I am the Deputy Commandant at West Point right now. Only been here a year. I was a Brigade Commander down in Texas and then the Chief of Staff for III Corps right before I decided to come up here. This is my last assignment in the Army. It’s been fun.
