If there are any "gray beard" Oklahoma fans currently online, I would like to get your opinion on the following question. To this day, I consider the 1971 Oklahoma-Nebraska game to be the greatest, most exciting college football game that I ever watched, particularly in light of the context within which it was played. Between Mildren, Pruitt, Crosswhite and a supporting cast of lesser backs who chipped in an additional 1500-1600 yards rushing, the Sooners that year had the most formidable rushing attack in college football history, averaging roughly 470 ypg (1971 Oklahoma Sooners Stats | College Football at Sports-Reference.com). Obviously Nebraska won the one game played on the field that year, but I have always believed that, if those two teams played 10 times, Oklahoma would have won at least six or seven of them. Do you tend to agree or disagree?
No vol loving, volnation fearing Vol fan would ever have commodore as their user name.
We have our commodore fan sighting of the year.
Last year OU was one of the worst Pass defense teams in the country. I'm surprised that is not being stressed more going into this game.
First, If I have offended any member of the Vol Nation in any way, I apologize. I lived in Nashville up until last August for about 6 years and have quietly followed the Volnation forum and registered on this site when the series between UT-OU was finalized. OU fans can be the worst or the best, depending on who you deal with. Many, like myself (and I will take the opportunity to say owenfieldreams) are probably the older generation of OU fans. Many don't understand, nor care really, about what it took to get OU to it's position in the world of NCAA football. They only know the "now" and don't hold to tradition and ways of OU football. I coached and taught back home and Okie's tend to hold on to the sport of football, probably like many in TN do. I saw too many school districts and small towns fold and dry up. Many had great football teams and that was about the only thing that held the communities together, even when industry and the economy was long gone and bust. When it comes to OU football, that is about the only thing we have left to center on, rally around and hope for some more glory. I can remember my mother crying when it was announced on the radio (yes, radio) that Steve Owens had won the Heisman in '69. I admire, and so do many other OU fans, the traditions, pagentry and the hoopla that surround UT football games. I cringe at times when I read some of the assinine statements that come out of the mouth of many OU fans. But alas, it is what it is. So far, we have been able to meet home/home in womens B-Ball, now football and hopefully in the future can schedule some other sports between UT and OU. Here's to some ass-kicking on both sides, nobody gets hurt other than the ususal stuff that goes with hard fought games and to a great season for both.
I'll tell ya how this Sooner felt about losing the Nebraska rivalry. I was, and still am, devastated! 99.9 percent of Sooners fans loathe texas the most. I am part of the .1 percent. I know too many Nebraska fans. I still root against them regardless of who they are playing. I was far more happy when I saw the BYU victory than I was the Notre Dame victory. A victory over Nebraska was so so sweet! I looove beating texas, but for most of my life, Nebraska was conference foe. The one to win and go to the Orange Bowl. A texas victory just meant I felt good until late November. No . . . jus No. I miss beating Nebraska.
The generally held belief is that there were at least 2 blocks in the back on Johnny Rodgers' punt return for TD. If one of those gets called, who knows what would have happened. (45 yard line and 35 yard line).

Those were definitely 2 great teams. Would have loved to see them play 10 times!
Not yet lol. But sense y'all are already riled up about it this one was kinda funny. Some cheeky bulletin board material.
Best sound protection For Neyland

"I'm seriously contemplating watching the game at a tittie bar. It would be sweet to be surrounded by jiggling tits for 3 hours from the noise vibrations. Also ladies you can prolly turn your speakers up and sit on them during the game........your welcome"
