This is my first post on VN, but I've been lurking for several years. I always enjoy reading this thread each week. OP does a great job with it.

Here's your first like then too!! I mostly lurk too, I lurked for years before making an account.

Its pretty much a known fact that Carr called the shots during 06-07 year that got him fired. DeBord had to basically beg Carr to let him run a schematically different offense against Florida. We saw how that turned out.

I don't really believe this.

The Michigan vs Florida game tells it all. The Florida game is Carr letting DeBord do his job instead of dictating the game play which he had done all that season. And that's information that came from Michigan fans.

Wait, so DeBord was OC during the Appy State fiasco? Ouch.

I have read a lot of dumb crap from fans on here, so forgive me if the Michigan fans you cite do not convince me of this.

Yep I know. Its as if Carr cut DeBord's play book in half and then in his last game gave the other half back. Its as if Florida was prepared for Carr's single back pro-style and DeBord's started throwing spread 4 and 5 wide sets at Florida's defense.

I find it even more ironic that Carr won the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award the year he's fired.

Didn't Butch get a lot of his offensive schemes from DeBord? Michigan ran a pro style with Chad Henne at QB..Butch's offense is nothing close to a pro style offense, so if Butch really did get his offensive scheme from DeBord, it's believable that Carr overruled most of what he called.

Carr's offense was Pro-Style. DeBord's is a Spread. DeBord's spread offensive scheme wasn't even seen until they played Florida in the Capital One Bowl. You can run a spread offense with a Pro-style QB by using 5, 3 and 4 wide sets, lots of motion and miss matches. This causes the opening up of passing lanes. The same running back handoffs that all us Vol fans complained about Bajakian running DeBord ran against Florida.

As long as DeBord doesn't live and die by the WR Screen like Jake did I'm ok with it

BGSU's message board is seriously the most respectful opposing fan forum I have ever read. Props to their fanbase.

We appreciate the compliment and try to make AZZ.com an inviting place for other fans (except Toledo). We enjoy chatting with fans of other programs and we've gained many fans from other programs such as Oklahoma and Boise State from friendly conversation.

I always enjoy watching your team. Exciting offense. Wish you guys well this season, and hope you hang out on VN for a long time.

Certainly, as a big college football fan I always enjoy meeting fans of bigger programs and making new friends to chat about the game with. I plan on sticking around after this weekend's game.

Coaches like Carr and Fulmer are called ex-coaches for a reason.

What's your prediction for the game?

So are coaches like Bowden and Osborne. The reason is: because they're no longer coaching.

But that's not the point you were trying to make, is it?

Gotta do better than that when trying to line up an insult. :good!:

I expect a UT win by 3-4 scores. All the questions for BG lie on defense and honestly no one really knows what to expect. We don't have the horses to be able to keep with the size and talent for four quarters but I suspect it'll be close for a half since the offense should be able to do enough to score some points.

Personally, I have a blind spot about this game for some reason. Just not sure how it will go. (Obviously I foresee a pretty big UT final win, but..) Not sure if UT dominates from the first play, or if its an offensive match for the first half until UT takes over for good.

I guess, if I had to say... I think our talent/speed in the secondary will be able to smother your receivers and our size/speed on DL will shut down your run game and pressure your QB--right out of the gates.

No offense meant at all to your program. Just a matter of recruiting.

That's what we are hoping for, but you never know. That's why they play the game. I'm anxious to see our defense vs. BG's offense.

I'm just glad you guys stepped in and picked up the game.
Hopefully the money is good and the traveling fans have fun.
I wasn't sure who we may have gotten but was happy when I saw BG.

Certainly, this isn't our first rodeo against a top-25 or SEC opponent so we know what to expect. Comes with the territory of being a fan of a mid-major program. Under Clawson we did play SEC teams close though, a 27-14 loss to Florida and a 21-20 loss to Mississippi State.

One player to watch out for will be Robbie Rhodes at WR. He's a Baylor transfer who was a top-10 recruit nationwide. There's SEC-level talent on offense, not so much on defense.
