What Other Message Boards are Saying-Bama Edition

The following quote from an Alabama fan in the OP:

You can't say a word. When the expanded conference was being considered in the late 80s, Alabama gladly took on the most difficult program available (Bama obviously couldn't play themselves) - the best historically and the best at the time beside themselves. UT would be elite through the first 10 years of the "new" SEC. Alabama never said a word about having to play them, even during the unfair "probation" stretch where Bama lost 7 in a row because of scholarship depletion. So, don't you or anyone else say a word about Bama playing UT, as though Bama was looking for the easy way out. And why do you say "hmmmmmmmmm". There's not a conspiracy - it's just the 2 best SEC programs historically finding it appropriate to play each other annually. Neither have whined or are whining about having to play the other when things weren't going their way, unlike some programs who now do whine. Also, neither UGA or AU have whined about playing each other annually. Only LSU. Not even UF to this point. When has LSU ever lost the West because of losing to UF since Saban? How about never. LSU loses to Alabama every year - that is their problem. The unbecoming whining and pouting is just throwing dust into the air. Alabama and UT (as despicable as they are - there was great mutual respect before Fulmer) is just right.

Obviously this Bama fan has never been to volnation because we have a large contingent of whiney, cry baby fans who complain all the time about how unfair the world is that we have to play Alabama every year. Obviously these are kids who don't even remember any of our win streaks and clearly don't respect the tradition of the rivalry. I'm glad we play Bama every year. Bring it on.

Y’all should be the parent of a Bama kid, like me, that’s on the parent FB page. Well, I was till they removed me because I called a spade a spade wrt Bama having a loooong history of cheating/paying players when they were trashing UT for turning them in. They really do not like to stare the truth in the face down there, that Bammer crowd.

Good grief. I never understand the 'reasonable Vol fan' approach of throwing your own fan base or team under the bus. The VAST majority here do NOT want out of the series.

By and large, I enjoy banter with Bammers. The bandwagon types are tiresome, but the old farts (like me) know and respect the rivalry and are fun to watch the game with. I have several Bammer fans as friends, and there is never a true insult exchanged between us regarding the rivalry. Good natured? Sure. But nothing compared with the smugness and passive aggressive nature of most uga fans I have ever met.

Sorry to disagree the discussion seems to come up around here several times a year and there are more than a few fans who dont want us to play Bama every year.

Two points:

1. There are some, but far, far, far from the majority.

2. Why throw your own fans under the bus in response to a post from another board discussing fans of another school? I just don't get that. Reasonable Vol Fans always seem to see the need to do just that.

Because it's a free country. This is a message forum and it's what people do here. I don't like or agree with a lot of things I read on here so I will comment on it as I see fit.

You can totally say what you want. I just never understand the strong desire of some folks in here (the "Reasonable Vol Fans") to consistently make the opponent's argument against their own team. Why do their job against your own side?

But hey, knock yourself out, my friend!

And GO VOLS!!

I HATE Alabama...More than florida and Vandy and Kentucky...I hate them more than any team we will ever play...I love seeing them whine and cry over a loss, I enjoy their complete suffering as they do ours...One day the series will start turning back to our favor and I will enjoy every damn minute of it.

I, of course, hate Alabama. But it's a hate rooted in sportsmanship and tradition. A respectful hatred, if you will.

I despise uga, and have no respect for the program or its fanbase.

That only makes sense to an SEC football fan.

What an arrogant bunch of pricks. I guess they have every right to be. I just want to ruin their season so bad. A win Saturday would be more satisfying than any measly bowl win. I love how they hate Fulmer so bad haha.

It’s not the true Bama fans that bother me that much, they’ve earned the right to talk trash now that they are winning just like we did when we were winning.
It’s all the new young bandwagon fans that still have a Tebow jersey in their closet or somewhere stored away that couldn’t name the coach before saban. Even worse yet are those that literally only like them because they are “winners”, I sadly Have met more of these than I can count, you know the ones that are huge fans until they lose and suddenly they either “don’t really watch cfb” or even worse suddenly are Clemson fans.

What are you talking about? We're fans of the team it doesn't mean we all walk in lockstep. I'm not making any arguments for opponents. Just pointed out that obviously that Bammer hasnt ever been on here and read the plentiful comments by our fans who do dread and fear the Bama game. That's the truth. And your comments that I'm not throwing my team under a bus. What does that even mean? I love Tennessee football win, lose, or draw.

tidefans.com is the most totalitarian, sanctimonious fan forum I've ever read through. God bless Freak for running a lightly moderated board.

::: considers letting loose a string of expletives to test that theory ::::

There is a subset of fans in here who feel compelled to always point out the negative aspects of the fan base, program, and/or team. I just don’t get the motivation. Trust me, there are enough Bama fans who think we are ALL scared of them so that you can let the occasional post pass by that omits us from that list.

But, hey, again, whatever gets you through the night, brother.
