We've got 2 gone, 2 more trying to leave. I don't think I've ever witnessed this type of turnover with a new coach before. Does this seem odd to anyone? Or are our coaches just so damn good that people want them? Is loyalty really only greenbacks deep?

Be honest. If someone offered to double your salary to do essentially the same job, would you turn it down?

More money and more responsibility = promotion.

Both Wilson and Gran took on new duties and more cash.

I mean I get it. I just feel like we're getting cleaned out. I don't even want to fathom the implications for next year. We need this staff and their system to jell for our kids. How can this happen if every rockstar we hire is one-n-done?

2 have left. You don't know that 2 are trying to leave, it has been rumored they MAY be CONSIDERED for other jobs. They haven't expressed interest that we know of, interviewed or anything. CLT will likely stay with a pay increase, but offering a step up and pay is a good thing. CJC may go back to the NFL but I doubt it. Florida has lost 7 coaches in 2 years. It happens everywhere. When you are on a staff you should aspire to move up. Unless you have a bad team or coaches, people are going to want them.

All, just a part of turning things in the right direction. :eek:k:

If you are a coach this is a job not a hobby.

I was under the impression this crew wanted to achieve great things together. My mistake for not realizing they just wanted more personal exposure for themselves and increase their marketability.

Lessons learned...

This.

Do you really want coaches that are so unsuccessful no one tries to hire them away? Successful staffs are going to get raided year in and out, USC, Florida, any successful college or NFL team. The key is to have a HC that can identify coaching talent; the fact that our staff has been raided so much is an indicator that Lane can identify and recruit talented coaches. It's not like these guys jumped ship for no incentive.

This is what happens to a great staff... look around, it's all over. I am afraid this is what the college football landscape will look like with the amount of money that is being tossed around. Couple the money with the fact that AD's appear a little quicker with pulling the trigger on getting rid of coaches with sub-par results and you have coaches who are more opportunistic and willing to jump when offered with the chance to cash in.

2 possible theories for me... The Saban Theory, where everybody takes other jobs that are at least equal because of the A-hole boss (hopefully not the case). And the theory that these guys were already really good and we were lucky to have them all for one year at the sime time.
Remember when CLK put this staff together. It was mind blowing. Multiple recruiting coordinators & right-hand men handpicked to come work for us. Did we really think they'd ALL put aside egos and play 2nd, 3rd, or 4th fiddle to a cocky coach barely in his 30's? I didn't... I just thought we might get 2 out of most of them.

For the record, i think we're good if we can at least keep O & Lance.

Kiffin assembled a great staff last year with all talk and no results (yet). With an actual season to point at where we improved each game, it should be even easier to pull in some great coaches now.

Just bring in quality replacements, that can coach and recruit
So we start challenging for and winning SEC Championships

These coaches were proven before they got to UT. Maybe one of the best coaching staffs in college. Your not going to keep that for long.

How many new coaches have you followed this closely? Perhaps it is not unusual but you haven’t noticed.

Managing assistant coaches is a tough job at this level. You want and need good coaches and recruiters, but if two or more are leaving every year you, as a program, are taking a step back for every step forward. Coaching turnover hurts recruiting--there is no question about that. At the same time, you don't want the Fulmer philosophy of keeping the same six coaches for 15 years and watch them all burn out. You need coaching talent, but a little continuity is important too.

I dont know why everyone is stressing so bad over asst coaches leaving. Lets not forget, CLK is the one that put this staff together. I dont think he will have any problem bringing in top notch replacements. Also, we still have CLK, CMK and CEO, the others are great yes, but as long as we have those three, I'm cool!!

Sure these guys want to achieve great things together, but other than the father and son connection, it is naive to think that priority is anywhere close to their personal careers or current paychecks.

Unfortunately the problem is the team impressed some people this year so the assistants stock is currently high, and therefore it is a good time to leave. Kiffin found some good coaches and brought attention to them. This will serve him well in recruiting replacements. Nothing to worry about.

Theory number 3: Your on the Titanic , it just struck an iceberg. Now is not the time to invest in learning how to be the captain of a sinking ship.

Solution: Find that lifeboat, and just slowly, paddle away.
