That was the deciding factor for me when it came to writing a warning or actual ticket. Then I would explain that they actually wrote the ticket and I hope they got their monies worth. FWIW I hated writing tickets but those were the good ole days. Don't think I could do it now. I wiould need plenty of ticket books.I think my demeanor got the ticket. But I think I was justified for it.
Five over is horse shat. That's been 5 years ago and I'm still pissed about it.

I'm usually very respectful because I know many of the cops here in town. But the more time I had to think about this jackwagon taking time out of his shift to pull me over for going five over, the angrier I got.
Once I realized I was getting the ticket, I figured I'd at least get my money's worth.

Up until I moved to Utah, I've always driven fast. No reason to hurry, just liked the speed. There's quite a few crazy drivers here running the north/south corridor that is I-15. Outdoor life is large, so there are many people out walking, bicycling, skateboarding, running, etc. on the surface streets. Much easier to just poke along at or just below the speed limits.
Memorable tickets-Passed a cop at 100 mph at West Hills exit in Knoxville.
Rolling through Oklahoma at 90 mph in a 65 zone.
Driving in Wyoming in the middle of nowhere with 100 miles visibility in any direction.
Trooper came out of nowhere. 110 mph in an 80 mph zone.
Warning for reckless endangerment on El Mirage Dry Lake Bed in California. 150 mph and I was slowing down. Got a little squirrelly.
