What is the status of Tino Thomas

Here's how I see it. Depth is great, crucial. But if you have a huge talent gap drop off in your secondary after about you 7th guy, You probably arent going to play more than 7 whether you have 10 or 15 guys in the backfield. Live to recruit another year and dont tie up all your scholarships.

Your right about (hopefully) not having to play more than seven guys. That gives you a nickel and two backups. But the reason you carry more is so that, ideally, you have 6-7 upperclassmen and 6-7 lowerclassmen. So you arent putting freshmen out there to be eaten up in the sec. Plus you have to remember how many dont pan out, or get dismissed. I think we've had a couple dismissed in the last two years alone and jj walked a thin line. While you can play well with 7 players ready to go most seasons, it takes 12-14 scholarship players to come up with those 7 usually.

Sorry about the typo. Should say we need to mend fences. We have a lot of talent in West Tenn that never gets a look. Just because a player is in single A or double A does not mean he is not good. I have seen many players from West Tenn end up playing pro ball in Canada just because they would not be given a chance. Example: Ronald Hopkins; Murray State University/Calgary Stampeders: Tony Champion/I believe he was from Humbolt had a career in Canada. There are some others.
Tobey Champion actually did play for Tennessee

The six I was counting were JJ (obvi), Waggner, Brewer, Gorden, Flemming, and Teague. Honestly, Teague has been a Godsend for two strait years. And I'm not saying he's out of the mix this year, it's just that there will be a refreshing level of competition at every position this year.

Coleman being an early enrollee makes me think he'll be the last true freshman to get significant playing time for a while.

Despite the quote, this is directed at anyone who knows: do the coaches expect Oliver to contribute significantly (or at all), or is he a complete mystery due to his injury?

His name isn't Tony Champion....it's Tobey Champion. Trying doing a little research before showing exactly how stupid you are.

I would be surprised if we started two true Freshman in the secondary. Perhaps by end of year, but doubt out of the gate.
