Vandy is almost 100 years into theirs.7 years is ridiculous because your entire roster will have turned over almost twice by that point.
There are exceptions (Clemson being the biggest and most obvious), but programs that we know in hindsight hired the "right guy" start to turn a corner by year 3, if not sooner. Saban took over a dumpster fire and had an undefeated regular season/SECCG appearance in year 2. Bob Stoops won a national title in year 2. Jimbo won a conference title, BCS bowl, and top 10 finish in year 3. Urban won a title in year 2; Kirby won the SEC and almost won a title in year 2 (admittedly, those rebuilding jobs were nowhere near as extensive as Tennessee).
Don’t forget AJ Johnson he played hard to and has taken full advantage of his 2nd chance as a starter now with Denver. No these are what you want. These are dudes, such as...

He’s saying we don’t have good enough players. Losing to UK by worst margin since 1935 won’t help.
Wow, not quite...but we have been close to as bad as Kentucky. Shocking but true. The actual numbers since 2011 are KY 53-63 (24-52 SEC) and UT 59-57 ((25-51 SEC). Since 2013 when Mark Stoops was hired it's KY 46-46 (22-38 SEC) and UT 49-43 (23-37 SEC). So, we've almost been as bad as Kentucky, albeit with a tougher permanent opponent in Bama.On average, Kentucky has a better team record than we have over the last 8-9 years. Some will not admit how bad we have been in the past 10 years and that hiring and firing a new coach every 3-4 years will not improve the situation. Go hide in a cave for the next 3 years and you may be surprised at the team you see when you emerge.
We have good enough players to beat Kentucky in year 3. Done with his excuses. No these are what you want. These are dudes, such as...
