What if we start out 2-5

Waiting on the negavol threads to start again. Seems we're heading into that direction again.

Very plausible we start we out 2-5 after the Bama game next year. If we are struggling on offense in particular who all is going to be clamoring for Mike Leach and blaming Fulmer for being to prideful to hire him?

I sure do wish the bamers ran Saban out of town his first year when they finished 6-6 and lost at home to La. Monroe.

This thread is as dumb as someone posting "what if we go wrinkles in the SEC" before last season. Oh wait.

What is the worst case scenario? :eek:hmy:

I spoke with an Bama fan last week, talked candidly about CJP. He thinks CJP is a true Saban disciple of his system, is a coach that wants to win not just for himself but for the fans as well, and is a players coach. He also thinks he is all show-no go...makes great speeches about intentions, can’t deliver. Now me, he’s our coach and I’m willing to give him a clean slate and three seasons to recruit and build. New coach, team chemistry, any given Saturday, anything can happen. Try and be positive and realistic, go Vols!

It's a reset. A lot of us have reset fatigue but that's what it is. He'll get his time here no matter how much people complain.. 2-5 is likely with that schedule.

We'll be the underdog in most of those games so 2 and 5 is definitely a reality that could happen.

This place will be on fire with the "Fire Fulmer" and "Fire Pruitt" threads and rightfully so.

We should have the same expectations for Pruitt that we would have had for Jones if he had not been fired. It is the same set of players.

It is NOT a reset. I realize some want to make it that way. But it is NOT a reset.

Yes it is a reset. It wasn't all Butch Jones. Some of his players just can't cut it in the SEC.. He's going to get his time no matter what. It's a rebuild again. This team doesn't have the roster to compete, if you think it does then next year is going to be a major disappointment to you.. It's not stacked with talent. He's going to have to build this team, mentality and physically.

I think it is fair to assume most of us are not eager to repeat the past few weeks. I bet Tennessee fans are very patient with Pruitt.

That is one of the nastiest stretches I've seen very possible thsts how it looks....and has nothing to do with staffs ability in year one...here to fulmer spreading out our october.....this schedule is ridiculous....makes no sense

I don't think many people will care. I know that a Tennessee coach is going to have to win games before I have any real interest in college football. THE Tennessee Administration has embraced small fry for so long they have made life long fans apathetic. It's sad.

I hope Pruitt is the real deal but he's going to have to prove it to me.

What if we start out 2-5?

Then that means we are 2-5.

Not going to turn this ship around in 9 months.....too many stray bricks that need to be thrown overboard

What if we quit doing what if threads?

I agree! “What if” scenarios only create and foster negative outlooks! My god, VL screamed for a new coach, scrutinized to the max every candidate and virtually sent one away on a “witch hunt”, and now figure that it is about right to give the new staff 7 games in 2018 to prove themselves!!! Yes, you can win early with a new coach but it is reasonable to figure a 3 year window. We HAVE TO support the new coach/staff. It can’t be productive for our program and for this new staff to constantly be undermined and bashed by U T’s fanatical fan base. Potential Recruits look at Vol Nation alll the time!! I shudder to think of what they might take away from all this!

I have been a passionate Vol van since 1965 and expect excellence on the field! I thought Butch Jones was “doing it the right way”. He recruited well and I thought he fostered tight team values. The trouble was, despite hiring apparently a strong staff, they never could implement a system that worked and developed the players. Play calling was atrocious and injuries for two years were overwhelming!

I choose to stay positive in my outlook for good things for the football program and I expect a quality product on the field in 2018!

Happy Holidays to all Vol fans! 🎄🎅🏻🏈👍

1) If we lose to WV in Charlotte, that could hardly be surprising since they've been fairly strong lately. I wouldn't be surprised if we are a 6-7 point underdog considering our struggles this year. Still, I think the changes will have us energized and we pull out a victory.

2) Losing at home to Florida would be the toughest pill to swallow, but they will be favored in that one as well.

3) If we win any of @Georgia, @Auburn, or vs Alabama we will probably be a happy fanbase.

I'd say we'll be 3-4 or 4-3 at 7 games, but I'd only freak out at 2-5 if the margins we're huge and we struggle against UTEP and ETSU like we did against UMASS this year.

I don't think we will, but I won't be clamoring if we do. I don't think Leach would do any better than JP, and well Fulmer's Fulmer. At least the craziness has subsided with him in charge.
