They could have thrown at will on Sat and run up 70pts, but would that have helped the team? Instead, they got a lead and started working on the weakest aspect of the offense. They've got a ton of film to use to instruct the line and the backs. Can't lay all of Saturdays running ills on the line. Poole is a good back, but he didn't do the line any favors Saturday.
I think the staff made the best use of a game against an overmatched opponent.
If you don't have at least a credible threat of a running game, just throwing will get you killed against even average teams. Ends start teeing off on pass rush, etc. If Tennessee can't avg around 140-150 yds rushing, it's in trouble.
Also, against good teams, there will be times when they know you are running and you still need to get a yard or two. You must be able to get those yards if you want to win.
