What I was most dissapointed in.

When vegas says the Gators are 4 points better than us and we get blown out- well you have to look at the coaching aspect. It is unavoidable.
Wonder if Mulen was on our sideline and Pruitt as one theGators sideline if we still would have had6 turnovers and a safety?

Pruitt has been unable to get these players to sacrifice their bodies and play with reckless abandon and until he's able to do this you wont see much improvement in this team

Make no mistake about it. Pruitt has never been a HC before now. He has a learning curve too. We shouldn't of been in a situation to hire and unproven coach to begin with.

True, but at this point all we can do is back Pruitt and go foreward.

Agreed. I don’t know when we are going to get serious and hire someone with at least a proven track record as a head coach at a decent football school. I don’t think that is too much to ask. I don’t mean sabanesque but maybe Dan Mullenesque. Instead we get another “up and comer” and just hope he can win
Mullen wanted the job. Currie was under the command of a prominent family and was given the guy to hire. That's what caused the revolution, and the state of the football program right now.

The bottom line is... Pruitt is just another gamble by this Administration. He's done ZERO to give anyone confidence that he can get to a championship level. UT shouldn't hire "gambles". BUT... we have ALWAYS taken the cheap, blue-light special, up and comer, rising coordinator route with every hire we've ever made. Barnes was the exception, but he basically fell in our laps after he was canned by lil UT.
I'll say it a thousand times over... Until UT Admin and boosters get SERIOUS about creating a championship level athletic department, we'll be stuck with mediocre ****.

We are not flat, we just are not good or prepared

This was an order of magnitude worse than the WVU game.

I was particularly disappointed because this was a bad FL team that was ripe for the picking, it was our SEC opener, in Neyland, on primetime TV.....all the ingredients were there for a "statement" game to kick off the Pruitt era.

We got a statement, all right.

Everyone acknowledged that we were/are in a bad downward spiral, trending towards death.

In the real world, when companies see that, they pony up and bring in high-powered help.

In Tennessee football, we decline to spend to fix the problem and put mere hopes in another unproven resource.

There's nothing anybody can really do about that. When Alabama brought Saban back from the NFL, they paid him 4 million dollars. Unheard of. Today, everybody makes 4 million dollars.

P.S. Except Les Miles.

Yep, for me it started when we couldnt sustain drives against utep. That should have served as a warning, but as always folks want to use the whole " negavol unhappy with a win" argument so the don't have to take an objective view of whats actually happening on the field.

This is because these coaches need to go beyond 11-15 guys in the rotations, especially on special teams! We've got some Tennessee kids on this team that would not only bring the juice, but would bring it at a high level. Challenge these guys that know they have positions locked up and on top of that, bring some excitement to the fanbase. It would be a win-win!

Getting over powered at times is the thing that worries me because I don't think it is a quick fix. Blocking schemes and leverage can be corrected. On offense we get pushed back into the backs or qb. On the defense they stand us up and we can't seem to get to get the push we need.
Yep!

I understand your frustration, but I think a lot of the mistakes that were made in the game were due to the players. I know Pruitt is the head coach and all responsibility is on him, but there’s not much you can do when your guys just fumble the ball or miss an assignment. I’m sure Pruitt has taught them to hold on to the ball and take care of their man.

The defense gave up a few big plays, but I think they played decent. Especially given some of the situations they were put in. Now the offensive play calling was terrible and I think that really hampered the offense all night. We were very predictable which allowed Florida to key in on us. We still have to support Pruitt and give him time. He inherited a mess. I am just looking for some progress and improvement throughout the year.

People keep saying the "play calling is bad". Just what the hell can he call? Roll-outs get turned inside. Long and intermediate pass plays don't have enough time to develop. Short routes across the middle have the receiver blown up or held up. On and on this goes. So just what can he call??

Let's see here turnovers have been ridiculous. And I thought our offensive line might be one of our strong suits. Boy was I wrong!

Well, the last go round we offered quite a few the job. They turned it down.

He can call the law and report loitering on the football field, but they would probably just laugh

I tend to agree with the UTEP game; however, some have mentioned maybe the staff was trying to work on fundamentals instead of unleashing the O. In hindsight, unleashing the O may have been a better approach to getting the O into a broader rhythm with the entire playbook.

Over 4 games I've seen plenty to work on; it's up to the coaches and players to make that happen. My biggest concern / disappointment has been the effort on offense....just don't see it for the most part. I think the D is playing ok - need more from the front 7, but they aren't the reason the team lost last weekend.

I do think this team can be better than the product we've seen thus far, but don't see it happening v. UGA or UA.
AU guys are pretty down on their team right now....as in not impressed by their O in the LSU loss or Arky win. Long shot, but maybe our VOLS can steal one there....and if they can get their headspace and timing set, I think there are more games on the back end that can be won.

How in the world did you think the offensive line would be strong? You watched last year didn't you? In all seriousness I thought they would be a bit better, but it doesn't look like they are at all.
