Mullen wanted the job. Currie was under the command of a prominent family and was given the guy to hire. That's what caused the revolution, and the state of the football program right now.Agreed. I don’t know when we are going to get serious and hire someone with at least a proven track record as a head coach at a decent football school. I don’t think that is too much to ask. I don’t mean sabanesque but maybe Dan Mullenesque. Instead we get another “up and comer” and just hope he can win
We are not flat, we just are not good or prepared
Everyone acknowledged that we were/are in a bad downward spiral, trending towards death.Agreed. The bottom line is... Pruitt is just another gamble by this Administration. He's done ZERO to give anyone confidence that he can get to a championship level. UT shouldn't hire "gambles". BUT... we have ALWAYS taken the cheap, blue-light special, up and comer, rising coordinator route with every hire we've ever made.
Yep, for me it started when we couldnt sustain drives against utep. That should have served as a warning, but as always folks want to use the whole " negavol unhappy with a win" argument so the don't have to take an objective view of whats actually happening on the field. This was an order of magnitude worse than the WVU game.
I was particularly disappointed because this was a bad FL team that was ripe for the picking, it was our SEC opener, in Neyland, on primetime TV.....all the ingredients were there for a "statement" game to kick off the Pruitt era.
We got a statement, all right.
Pruitt has been unable to get these players to sacrifice their bodies and play with reckless abandon and until he's able to do this you wont see much improvement in this team
I understand your frustration, but I think a lot of the mistakes that were made in the game were due to the players. I know Pruitt is the head coach and all responsibility is on him, but there’s not much you can do when your guys just fumble the ball or miss an assignment. I’m sure Pruitt has taught them to hold on to the ball and take care of their man.
The defense gave up a few big plays, but I think they played decent. Especially given some of the situations they were put in. Now the offensive play calling was terrible and I think that really hampered the offense all night. We were very predictable which allowed Florida to key in on us. We still have to support Pruitt and give him time. He inherited a mess. I am just looking for some progress and improvement throughout the year.
Well, the last go round we offered quite a few the job. They turned it down.Agreed. People keep saying the "play calling is bad". Just what the hell can he call? Roll-outs get turned inside. Long and intermediate pass plays don't have enough time to develop. Short routes across the middle have the receiver blown up or held up. On and on this goes. So just what can he call??

How in the world did you think the offensive line would be strong? You watched last year didn't you? In all seriousness I thought they would be a bit better, but it doesn't look like they are at all.Let's see here turnovers have been ridiculous. And I thought our offensive line might be one of our strong suits. Boy was I wrong!
