What happened to our unique orange?

I thought our shade of Tennessee Orange was #FF8200.

Edit: it is. https://brand.utk.edu/standards/colors/

Also, you left off the rest of the statement from the UT site: However, almost all university communications are printed using the four-color (CMYK) process, which cannot accurately reproduce PMS 151. Therefore, you should use the 0-50-100-0 CMYK breakdown when printing. If a printer requests a PMS color to guarantee a match for a four-color print job, you should specify PMS 144, not 151.

FYI PMS 244 is #ED8B00

I liked the creamsicle also. The current orange is like most all the other teams that wear orange but the creamsicle was distinctive. The Tampa Bay Bucs copied it when they began. It thihk the change started before Nike got the contract.

There was a shade back in the day of the mesh jersey popularity that were almost yellow rather than orange, hated those.

Saves Nike money. Keep everything as much the same as possible. And everything Nike looks the same anyway, regardless of colors.

And yes, we do have a patented shade of orange.

“University Of Tennessee Orange / #f77f00 Hex Color Code. The color university of tennessee orange with hexadecimal color code #f77f00 is a shade of brown. In the RGB color model #f77f00 is comprised of 96.86% red, 49.8% green and 0% blue.”
I did not calculate those %s; it’s a copy and paste.

And another one.

Using Tennessee Orange. Orange is the most important color in our palette; it is critical that we get it right. The official Tennessee Orange is PMS 151.

That one is interesting nomenclature too.

Given I live in east GA, work in SC, and am surrounded by Clemson fans, I simply refer to ours as God’s orange.

So funny. A few years ago there were several threads in which people complained about Adidas not being able to get the orange right. Many people made emphatic arguments claiming that a quality company like Nike would be able to remedy the situation. Some of us tried to explain how color and merchandising works and that no team in any sport is any different. Those of us who have been around for a while remember the celebration on VolNation when we switched to Nike. Nike was going to get the orange right! The recruits were going to pour in because the kids love Nike!

Well, here we are. History repeats itself. Personally, I wish we would have stayed with Adidas. They stuck with UT and treated us like a premium brand when we were down and I like their products.

All this is insensitive to people of color blindness and it's making me see red!

Please be a little more sensitive with your words. Many communists will take offense at thier color being tarnished with your anger and probable violence.

View attachment 213344This is closer to the UT orange that I call Tennessee Orange. And imo we need to get back to the uniform that Austin Denny was wearing in this pic.By the way,the school Denny graduated from is now a middle school in Nashville, and my 10 yo granddaughter will be attending this year!
That's Tennessee Orange to me.

TN coaches and admin should have moved away from the washed out, yellow, sepia, ugly ass orange a long time ago. Thankfully they appear to have gradually done just that, but not far or fast enough. Unique it was. It was also un inspiring and impossible to match by the fans wearing as others have noted every shade of orange imaginable. Yes, Nike hates us. And Reebok. And ESPN. And the NCAA. And the recruiting services. Just us. Only us. Jeez Louise. What a bunch of losers.

Prime example is this picture. The girl in the middle has the checker board outfit with a deeper orange while the other fans have shirts with a more yellow orange on and the left shoulder of the girl behind her is a deeper orange. I see this on every TV broadcast. Always looks a little strange. I always assume people froms other schools that see that say to themselves" those damned hillbillies can't even get their colors to match", especially the fans of teams that lose to us. Lol

Let them say what they want and us hillbillies will whip their a**!

The original "Tennessee Orange" represented the yellowish orange produced in the wild daises which grew on "The Hill". Over the years, it has evolved the current #177foo Hex Color Code. To me, I still perfer the old original, but that color is gone forever. I have grown the accept the new color but well remember the original color. I have seen a basketball jursey that my brother wore when he played basketball at Tennessee in the early 1940s before the joined the Army Air Corps in WWII.

Didn’t we turn down more money from under armor to resign with Nike?
I’m just not a Nike fan
Not trying to get political but, I will not buy ANY Nike product as a result of the Kapernick fiasco. I was at a JCPenney's store not long ago and they had some clearance items at 75% off and they were all Nike. I thought about it and then said no I wouldn't have it if it was free. Those folks have rights but so do I--I have the right NOT to buy their products.

Look at the orange seatbacks behind him...and no upper deck.

I fell out with Nike products and Kapernick, ……………...

Yep. Nike has made it a point to go against anything American. That 50% of the ncaa schools haven't dropped them is beyond me. NO Kahonas. People need to stand up for the Red White & Blue; If this Country is Lost to Socialism, (Control of the masses) We will all have to become soccer fans.

The color differences are due to Multiple Manufacturers of Sports Apparel. Most of the stark off color stuff comes from places like Walmart; (Not Official Mdse) I don't really see a problem; the different colors actually accent the real Orange.
