What happened to our unique orange?

The girl twin uses Tennessee to identify anything that is Orange. I have explained to her that Tennessee is a place and Orange is the color, she just can’t help it. Of course it’s really fine with me for her to interchange the two, but after teaching her the Tn alphabet(A,B,C.....Q,R,S,UT, Vols, W,X,Y,and Z.), I can understand her point of view.

All shades of Orange are Tennessee. We can’t blame other programs wanting to imitate us. It’s the highest form of flattery. It makes sense they they use a different shade so that it’s not so obvious what they are up to.

Yep. Nike has made it a point to go against anything American. That 50% of the ncaa schools haven't dropped them is beyond me. NO Kahonas. People need to stand up for the Red White & Blue; If this Country is Lost to Socialism, (Control of the masses) We will all have to become soccer fans.
Hysterical ********.

Nike has Kapernick they don't need or get my money, UA, Adidas, Puma no more Nike ………………...…….
I don’t let politics interfere with what I do as a Vol fan. If the Vols are playing on Election Day, it would take an effort for me to vote while the game was going on. I would have to go early to ensure I didn’t miss any Vol action. I’m not that impressed with their products or their prices. My wife did buy me a Smokey Gray #98 jersey shirt that fits, I will be wearing Smokey(That’s what the twins named it.) at some point during the season. For now I’ll be wearing Orange when I can.

When Nike makes something I like or my wife thinks I’ll like, I hope my wife gets me one. I won’t buy it, their inferior products are over priced. I’m out.

I barely have two different items match in Orange. When my kids see Orange they recognize it as Tennessee. Orange is the most powerful color that there is, and it is the color of the Tennessee Vols. There are people all over the world that wearing Vol apparel, it’s Orange and they know it.

Orange = Tennessee Vols = Orange

We used to have a unique shade of orange. Is it safe to say it changed with Nike? Just seeks like now we look like all the other teams that wear orange.
No it hasn't and no, it absolutely does not.

What is changed is Nike manages to actually get the color right on most of their apparel unlike Adidas.

That is simply untrue. Nikie has never made an attempt to get the original Tennessee Orange nor has any other company in the last 40-50 yrs. While I can accept the current "Tennessee" orange, we will never again see the "real" Tennessee Orange again.

I don't see much of a difference in the color here. The material can make the colors look different and the new ones have more of a sheen but it's pretty close iyam.

Those old jerseys were cotton, weren't they? I'd say that has as much to do with it than anything.

Personally, Nike has alienated me with all their political social justice themes. Wouldn't bother me to go back to Adidas or Under armor. Just don't want a basketball players image on a football jersey like UF has. Would rather see a football players image on a basketball jersey.. Just saying..

Saves Nike money. Keep everything as much the same as possible. And everything Nike looks the same anyway, regardless of colors.

And yes, we do have a patented shade of orange.

“University Of Tennessee Orange / #f77f00 Hex Color Code. The color university of tennessee orange with hexadecimal color code #f77f00 is a shade of brown. In the RGB color model #f77f00 is comprised of 96.86% red, 49.8% green and 0% blue.”
I did not calculate those %s; it’s a copy and paste.

And another one.

Using Tennessee Orange. Orange is the most important color in our palette; it is critical that we get it right. The official Tennessee Orange is PMS 151.

That one is interesting nomenclature too.

I should ask my ex, she had all the PMS numbers down.

When I was younger I did not like the yellowish orange! However, since I am no longer a young whippersnapper, I prefer the older orange shade than the ones we've had the past couple of decades. I have actually thought about this long before this thread. I think it is because it is the traditional orange and because it separates us from everyone else.
